Quite frankly, the Lady Tigers face a "must-win" situation today vs Georgia. Here's the preview...............
LINK
Unfortunately, they'll only suit up 9 players as freshman Kuaneshia Baker has been suspended for violating team rules..........................again.
(something tells me she's not going to be on the team next season)

what is baker doing??? Once again, we have one less player playing on a team with already little to no depth at all.

Too bad about baker. But if we play like we have in our better games we can win this. Still small hope of ncaas. But if we lose today those are pretty much gone. Be interesting to see how we come out after gut wrenching ut loss

I was thinking the same thing. I think mentally, this team can react one of two ways to Thursday's game. They can go completely in the tank, or come out with an "us against the world" mentality. We can't come out against Georgia and start the game off 9-0 again, like we did in the last two ball games. This game is every bit as winnable as Thursday's game if we play like we did during most of that game. We really don't have a choice today. If we don't win this one, we'd need to go 4-1 the rest of the way to finish ).500 in conference.

LSU 11
UGa 11
11:46 to go in the first half.
I questioned the recruitment of Youngblood last year. But I must admit, that kid is TENACIOUS in the paint. If she continues to lose that baby fat, she's gonna do some good things for us in the future.

How did LSU get away with wearing pink, when Ga is in Red??

Well, the Lady Tigers could've went in the tank after that heartbreaking loss against Tennessee on Thursday. But today, they've come out with an intensity and determination of a team that is hell bent on winning. Kudos to Nikki for getting this team's head together.
LSU 31
UGA 25
Halftime
Ironically, this is the highest ranked team of the three we've played in a row, and we're playing the best against them. Go figure.....
Again, I have to give praise to the freshmen Youngblood. I love her post play. But that's not to take away anything from Plaisance and McKinney.........both of whom are also playing well. Webb is being her same consistent self with 8 points at the half and Ballard is still out there creating havoc on defense. There's so much potential with this team. But, we remain patient...........
Webb 8 pts
Youngblood 7 pts 3 reb
Plaisance 5 pts 4 reb 2 blk 2 ast

If we didnt give up so many 2nd chance baskets, this game isn't close.

3:44 left to go in the game......
LSU 50
UGA 48
Well, here we go again...............another tight game down to the wire. C'mon ladies we need this one!!

Gonna have to hit FTs
Ballard having 15 rebounds is insane

Making FTs today although it makes me mad that if we had done that Thursday we'd be in the tourney picture.

Ballard had a bad game offensively but she did rebound the ball well

Andy Landers still struggling to win in BR

The Lady Tigers win 62-54
So we lose to #14 TAMU.......lost to #12 Tennessee...........but beat #9 Georgia. Go figure.......
But I ain't complainin'.
Kudos to Nikki today for doing an EXCELLENT coaching job...................especially in regards to managing player's minutes. We only had nine players and all nine played significant minutes, which helped the starters be a lot fresher down the stretch. Both Youngblood and Lutley gave the team big minutes today!
Offensively, Webb, Kenney, and Plaisance carried the team but we got GREAT defense from McKinney, Ballard, and Youngblood as well. The wierdest stat line of the day has to be Ballard with 6 pts on 2-17 shooting but at the same time with 15 rebounds and two steals......from a 5'9" guard. I've never seen a stat line like that from a guard.
Now, its time to use this game as a springboard. We need to win AT LEAST 3 of the next five games.......and four of those games are definitely winnable (TAMU in College Station will be tough).
With that being said, great job by the Lady Tigers today!
Webb 12 pts 5 reb
Kenney 11 pts 5 ast 4 reb
Plaisance 13 pts 9 reb 3 blk
Youngblood 7 pts (3-4 shooting) 4 reb
Lutley 7 pts 2 reb
