I disagree. The biggest advantage of beating LSU would be to keep some of those North Louisiana (non-LSU grads) up North on Saturdays. Then the program could really take off.

I understand what your saying, and winning would be huge for the program. But, it could be easily dismissed as a one-time fluke, and may not contribute as well to long term success.

Having a long-term, sustained, winning program would be far more significant and worthwhile.

Imagine if Tech had experienced the exact same success as Boise State. In addition to all the money and good stuff, people in LA would demand a Tech-LSU matchup. Same goes for ULL/ULM/Tulane.

I believe LSU was pressured into played at least 2 in-state colleges every year by the La politicans. They agreed, and LSU plays either ULL, ULM, or La Tech every second or third year.
