From reading OP, sounds like he may have played baseball for Nicholls.
What lead you to that conclusion?

Colonels beat LSU in basketball a few years back also.

Hahahaha. Hahaha. Haha. Shut up.
This is what used to patrol the infield for LSU that I was lucky enough to take the field against.
3B - Jason Williams/Nathan Dunn
SS - Russ Johnson/Jason Williams
2B - Todd Walker/Warren Morris
1B - Brad Wilson/Eddy Furniss
These guys could all absolutely rake the baseball. I remember our pitchers coming back to dugout saying "there is literally no pitch that I can throw in the strike zone that he wont crush." Sad thing is he could of said it about any of em, they were all that fricking good!

about 20 years ago I was lucky enough to play college baseball but not good enough to play for LSU. So it's nice to see my alma mater get a big win for their program.

I was kidding. Because anyone that actually read a fraction of OP saw that.

I did.
Cool story I can share. Played left field and got to start twice at the Box. The left field lunatics were absolutely relentless back then. Kept in PG-13 for the most part but knew everything about me since I was a local boy from the area. The things they would say made it very difficult to concentrate on the game. First time playing there my crazy aunt (everbody has one) decided to try and get them off my back by going talk to them. Needless to say they turned it up a notch and even included her in some of the ribbing, haha! It was all good fun though and some even came talk to me after the game. Just good down to earth people.

Mike Fontenot belongs there instead of him

Bregman likely wouldn't play on many of those teams in the 90s. But he's easily the best position player since 2009

What????? Furniss and Walker were awesome and probably the two best but Morris was no slouch and you are short changing him a bit.
He hit .369 and .400 his last two years at LSU and was drafted in the 5th round. Average to good players don't get drafted by MLB that high. He eventually made it to the major leagues and batted .267 lifetime including his rookie year where he hit .288 with 15 home runs. Not too shabby.

Fontenot, Theriot, Cresse and that bunch are all younger than me and I never got to play against them. But definitely all awesome players and great college hitters! I would say Morris and Fontenot are pretty close. Mike probably gets the nod for having more power and little better defensively. But Morris had one of the sweetest left handed swings ever to come through LSU. Very similar to Todd Walker, in fact I believe he tried to emulate him.

As pointed out by another poster, he didn't fluke into that homerun. He was injured. LSU went undefeated in games that he played. He made the US Olympic team, not because of one swing. He had a MLB career. Guys like McClure, Cresse, and Furniss, as great as they were in college couldn't sniff the MLB.
You are totally wrong.

Don't forget Lemahieu either. He's already got 4 years in the league and will be a 3rd year starter for Colorado. He might have a 10 year career before its all said and done. That kid was a great player for LSU.

I didn't want to respond so harshly, but you are 100% correct Choupique!

I'd say those college numbers are pretty darn good.

He was the best "hitter" on the team in 1995 and 1996. I saw and listened to the scouting reports that our pitchers used. He was the toughest out without question. Furniss a close 2nd, then JW 3rd.
