Money better spent than what we are paying for Trent Johnson.

If he doesn't produce, that salary be yet another reason to go a different direction.

Crowton didn't produce, and he got raises and big salaries and bonuses, mostly for winning a freakin' bowl game.

Who cares what his salary is

I do and it has jack shite to do with the economy as a whole. $700,000 is a lot of jack to be paying an OC that has been out of the game a while and last gig went down in flames (I know head coach is different then OC) Even if he was in demand, I think there are enough question marks concerning his ability to run an offense to be concerned about paying him that much. LSU didn't want to fire crowton for 450,000. IF Krags insn't successful, we owe him a shite ton of money and still have to pay for a replacement. It starting to become a deep hole if things aren't successful.

Although I think Krags will be successful, people should be concerned about that salary mark because if he isn't, LSU is in a pretty big hole.

1.5 Million is more "Jack". In fact, it's more than double the jack. LSU just paid Trent Johnson 3 Million to win 5 total SEC games in 2 seasons.

Yet most seem unconcerned about that particular jack.

Sure they are. Lots of regulatory situations result in people being paid more than their contributions are worth, more than the market forces would support, and more than their payors can bear. Such situations usually do not last indefinitely, of course . . .

Do you know what a coach is worth?

Nothing to do with my comment. It was a tangent, responding to the overly broad generalization that I quoted (which was only one small part of a much longer post generally related to the topic of the thread). I merely pointed out one way in which the generalization is flawed, and it has nothing to do with football coaches at LSU. Thus, whether or not I know what a coach is worth is absolutely irrelevant to my comment.

But for the record, I know that every coach at LSU is the greatest coach in the history of being better at stuff and is worth eleventy-billion-trillion dollars a year, except when they suck and are the worst coaches in the history of telling people how to do shite wrong and aren't worth a wooden nickel . . . give or take about $700,000.

It's not like as if paying these coaches high salaries hurts the school All the money is directly from the football program. If they continue to win, then I have no problem with their salary if it doesn't hurt the academics side of LSU.

I agree SG Geaux but that winning should include a West Title after being shut out 3 years in a row. It also should include better than a 14-10 record over the next three years in SEC play. That's alot of money for a staff that has zero championships of any kind the last 3 years.

You hae zero idea how much LSU Football makes, now that Miles has turned it into a perennial Top 10 team.

ETA: both Krags & Chavis "Big Money" salaries will be paid for by Game 3.

TAF pays WAAAY too much for these guys, they act like they are being held hostage or something, when in reality neither Miles, Kragthorpe or any of the others are in demand in coaching circles.

Didn't we just re-structure Miles's contract because Michigan tried to hire him after the bowl game? And if I'm not mistaken, the contract was more or less benefitted LSU as it removed the rollover portion of the contract.
