Kiffin Has a History of Questionable Questionables and Doubtful Unlisteds

Before 2026, Kiffin has been involved in at least two instances of "injury report gamesmanship."

For the 2024 Georgia Game, Kiffin listed 26 players on the official SEC availability report.

For the 2025 Arkansas Game, Kiffin was accused of misleading the SEC and Arkansas regarding QB Austin Simmons and TE Luke Hasz.

Simmons was initially listed as "probable," but Kiffin completely removed him from the availability report the next day, which would indicate Simmons was fully healthy. However, Trinidad Chambliss started the game. Simmons only entered briefly and was visibly affected, leading to speculation that Kiffin hid the injury to force Arkansas to waste time preparing for a QB who couldn't actually play significant minutes.

Hasz was coming off an injury and, like Simmons, was left off the final availability report. He barely played against Arkansas, raising further questions about Kiffin's compliance with the SEC’s reporting rules.

Kiffin's track record has established a long-standing "don't trust Lane Kiffin" reputation among opposing staffs when it comes to injury disclosures. The Ole Miss staff is preparing for Leavitt to play.
