If we tackle well and don't blow assignments or be out of position on defense, we get off the field on 3rd more often. Defense has to win the day while our offense continues to be lackluster. We appear to be conditioned better than any of our previous opponents and this will again bode well for our offense late in the game. We have been good in 2nd half but we better get off to a better start on both sides of the ball in this game. No 17-0 hole early!!

LSU is 19th in total defense. TN is 95th total defense. We can score on TN. The run game needs to play keep away from TN. TN cannot score if they do not have the ball. Time of possession is crucial. But I think TN kicks more FG's than scores TD's. LSU's again strength and conditioning pull us through in the 4th. LSU wins.

Despite the limitations of this team, if we clean up the 4 things that occurred vs Auburn we will be in good shape vs the Vols Saturday:
-Miscommunication and blown assignments in the DB backfield
-Poor tackling
-Penalties
-Dropped passes
All 4 are a combination of mental mistakes and focus and the team has played "clean" games this season so we know it's very fixable. Limit those and I like our chances.

This UT team is closer to 2019 LSU than MSU is to 2022 Tennessee.

Tenn. runs the fastest offense in the country and they are very good at doing so. If our offense has a few short drives ending in punts, our well conditioned defense will be asked to do too much. Our offense needs to keep us in this game like our defense has been keeping us in games.

lsu has to win the time of possession to win this game
Tennesse has lost the TOP battle in every game they've won for the last two years.
Time of possession won't have any effect on the outcome.
Now, executing slow and plodding drives that eat the clock and keep Tennessee's D on the field WILL have an effect. Unfortunately that means you'll have stick with the run game, playing into our strength, and convert a half dozen 4th downs just to keep the pace.
But the TOP will of course be won by LSU. That's the nature of Tennessee's offense. We don't even try to win it. We don't care.

Pitt lost their starting QB during the game and Tennessee held on to beat them in OT 34-27.
Would not be surprised to see a similar game in the upper 20's.
If by that you mean we knock Daniels out of the game and hobble Nussheimer and force him to limp around the whole second half, you're probably right.
We'll be coming hard after whoever is behind center.
