yes some idiots think that.

Well, who exactly do you recommend then?
Sorry, I don't know the names of offensive line coaches around the country. My point is, we need to exhaust the list of guys (whoever they may be) that have proven to be succesful offensive line coaches at other places before we take a risk and hire Mawae, however small that risk may be.

If he was successful he wouldn't be looking for a job.
Cameron was in the NFL for years and is very, very highly respected. I'd imagine there would be a number of highly experienced and succesful coaches that would like an opportunity to coach with him.

We are talking about an O-LINE coach! Can anyone, off the top of their head even name 5 current o-line coaches? I know I cannot. Does Les help coach the o-line? That is his background, but I think it would be a safe bet the KM knows more today about blocking than Les.

He absolutely will. Nobody is discrediting his ability in that regard. What about teaching 18 year olds about footwork? Making mid game adjustments to protection packages?
He coaching ability is the big unknown.

Again. The only way we're getting an NFL o-line coach is if he was let go. And he will have been let go for a reason.

See above.

I'm sure it would, he's an extremely bright guy. My concern is how committed is he to doing this. That's why I personally would rather a guy that's been in the coaching game for a few years, you already know their level of dedication.

If there's a guy out there interested in the job with a proven track record of success coaching offensive line in the NFL or college that is interested, would you still want to hire Mawae?
You people crack me up. We're talking about a position coach, which happens to be a position that he excelled at. The only question is his ability to recruit and I don't think that will be a problem with him.

I think most people can understand the simple fact that the best_________(insert occupation) isn't necessarily the best teacher for that occupation.
Isn't the old saying "Those who can't do teach." I like Mawae because he clearly has a passion for the university and his NFL playing/administrative pedigree is great but you can't argue the fact that he hasn't taught anyone how to play offensive line.

Yeah, who cares?! Let's just hire Stud back since it's a bullshite position anyway.

So you don't think Kevin fricking Mawae can show an 18yr old proper footwork? As for mid-game adjustments. He was a fricking 8-time pro-bowler at center. They do nothing buy make pre-snap adjustments all game long. Even more than the QB. I think he'd be ok with that.

He's not calling plays. He'll be fine.

Cam Cameron was let go in the NFL, multiple times. There's also assistant o-line coaches in the NFL that could be looking to make a move. Todd Washington is a popular name in o-line coaching seaches.

So... Kinda like how Cam Cameron was let go? Did you like that hire?

If Washington and Moeller aren't interested. Then Mawae should be number 1

I think Chicken needs to reboot Tigerdroppings after reading this thread.........Folks actually are discrediting Kevin Mawae as an OL coach?
fricking unbelievable.

These are the same people who wanted Stud gone because our line sucked.
Can't have it both ways.

Such a huge difference between hiring an OC and an o-line coach.

There's nothing to discredit because he hasn't been one. I don't think it's stupid to question the ability of Mawae as a coach though.
