Kelly makes his own reality

In fall practice Kelly ALWAYS makes his team sound like world-beaters and the same with some of his players. I know that some of this is psychological prep by a Coach. Pump them up…etc. But Kelly lives in LA LA land. The team…players…are never as good as he makes them seem. LSU hasn’t had a good OL since 2019. This is the first decent defense he’s had in his tenure.
He may have been a good coach in the past but he is not a good fit at LSU. I just hope Woodward doesn’t sit & do nothing and let him kill the program.

It's not just a Kelly thing.
I always listen up during fall for the "unexpected pumping up" of a position. When you hear it, it's typically time to buckle up.
Everyone who was listening to practice reports knew this OL was struggling.

He’s just a huge jackass whose ego gets in the way.

Yep. If you listened to media members who were at practice telling you that he OL was consistently struggling and ignored it because BK said “I know what a good OL looks like” that’s your own fault.

Kelly won't kill the program. I would be shocked if the bottom ever truly fell out.
Now, he may not elevate the program to championship status, from what we have seen thus far.

Kiss of death.

If BK had a normal/average contract as opposed to an almost $10 million/yr for 10 yrs type of contract....for instance about $8.5 million/yr for 7 yrs, he likely would be FIRED after this season. The ONLY reason he's not in the hot seat is because his buy-out is just too large after buying out the previous 2 coaches.
His tenure at LSU so far hasn't produced a playoff team, let alone a title. He hasn't even won the conference. This year will be no different than his previous 3. If he had a 6/7 yr contract, this very likely would be his last season at LSU.
I don't have an issue with his annual salary, I just think LSU shouldn't have agreed to a 10 yr contract. That's MUCH too long for a HC that's been coaching for over 30 years with no NC's. He's bordering being just another version of Les Miles in his LATER LSU years.
