Actually the Texas situation is a lot different then ours going back from last season. Even at the end of the championship game last year, the announcers were all saying how Texas would be right back because most of their key players from last year are still in the program.
LSU lost a good bit of their key elements from last year and then their 2 best pitching prospects were lost at the last minute to the pros. Throw in the injury problems and it's easy to see why this happened.
The high ranking early this season was based on high expectations from last year and counting on few injuries, which obviously didn't happen. We knew going into this year there was several big question marks at key positions
You can be dissapointed with the way the season has gone so far, I certainly am, but to compare that to the Texas team from this year to last year is totally different

Im guessing you meant that for the other poster..
As for as pitching we lost Coleman and..... Nolan Cain and Ryan Byrd. cain and byrd should have been easy to replace. Coleman you were not going to replace. But I dont see why Bradshaw regressed so much. Its too hard to say how those two guys that signed contracts would have been.
The bull pen last year was horrible until the SEC tourney and somehow people forgot about that.
As for position players we lost alot but thats a different subject.. 3rd Base has given up many runs this year and extended many innings but OF we should have been just as strong if not stronger than last year.
I would say LSU has plugged the holes very well with very talented players except for at 3rd but Alex has looked much better there than the early season experiment.
