Alleva could easily do that with one of his "letters" that they post on LSUSports.net (I think Herb Vincent actually writes these, but that is a different topic for a different thread). It could go something like this...

College students or younger might think this is kool today but wait till you get a little older and perhaps have kids or wives attending games. Try to imagine how you might feel then or if your parents were sitting with you listening to this trash...embarassed and ashamed at the lack of respect?

Mad? You obviously think that I take this board more serious than I do.

Working on a spell checker too, but it won't help in your case.

damn, got me. When I look like a fool I start resorting to being a grammar nazi too. (my browser comes with a spell checker. However, that was a grammar mistake and not a spelling error.)

It was obvious that you knew better. I would have laughed and said touche', but that's just me.

Bottom line to me is that there will always be vulgarities in the student section. No matter what. Taking things like neck out of the song list just ruins a lot of fun for students. And I'm too lazy to weed through the past 14 pages that I just wasted my time (albeit, it was quite entertaining) and pull quotes, but for all those complaining and saying move the student section to the upper deck, ask Les or any of the players how they would feel about that. I think the vulgarities are definitely worth the 3rd downs on the south end of the field that other teams end up having to call timeouts on b/c they can't hear a dang thing. Neck (and others) = a more pumped up student section = a louder venue = why TS is one of the worst places for an opponent to play.

Also, if you guys think that opponents and their fan base are thinking "wow this is such a vulgar university w/ such immature students" as opposed to "dang we just got whooped", you're (with very few exceptions, I'm sure) wrong. Visitors tend to remember the food and the game when they travel, and usually just the game when they watch on TV. Old arse LSU fans are the only one's that I ever hear griping.
And ByteMe, I should have clicked "Reply" to the original poster, but I just clicked the most recent "Reply" button that I saw. My b.

The point is: DON'T CURSE DURING A SONG THAT TIGER BAND IS PLAYING. You can curse on your own, fine. But if cursing is heard when Tiger Band plays, especially if it's audible enough to be heard on TV, you can bet that there'll be an order trickling down to get us to stop playing. We can't "rebel" and play anyway if we still want to be funded.

The tuba section and drumline won't be playing Earthquake ever again thanks to the SS.
Considering it was written by a member of the section, which took some time and effort, its a shame that it only took two games for it to be completely ruined by unoriginal lyrics that sounds like something chanted during a high school basketball game.

I don't understand why people have a hard time grasping this. It doesn't bother me, personally, but I'm not the one making the calls.

Student section's own fault, unfortunately.

This is true, which makes it a shame that if we have an SEC team on the ropes, fourth down, fourth quarter, there'll be piped music. No Neck. No nothing.

Lol the real point is is that the cursing will happen no matter what. It has for decades, and there is nothing that anyone in the administration can do to get the ~8-10,000 students to stop. I'm not saying that I'm a fan of all of the cussing, but it can't be stopped, and they shouldn't waste time and effort trying. The point has been made repeatedly - drunk arse 18-24 year olds aren't gonna change.
