Yeah, we shelled him twice in 1997. But he has been very complimentary of LSU since and I think he really likes LSU baseball.

I know, just funny how he made a point in this show of basically saying he chose to go to Stanford after that game/play from the '87 series.

THIS. he's easily the #1 commentator for CBB, my hatred for him hasnt completely gone away & i really look fwd to him doing our games. esp. considering the slapdicks cox hires.

Agreed. My dad and I were in Omaha in 97 and we still refer to the 2 times we faced him as "the first shelling of Kyle Peterson" and "the second shelling of Kyle Peterson". Classic CWS memories. The guy really is good though. HIs comments on the LSU baseball experience when he has here in 2008 were great.

Yall may not remember Harrold Reynolds but to me he was just as good but he really liked LSU, but the he was the only one at ESPN that pushed College baseball. When ESPN made the decission to get rid of Harrold Reynolds that was when they made the decission to stop pushing College baseball as a major sport on the National scene.

At one time back in the nineties ESPN really pushed College baseball and now I just hope history does not repeat itself by ESPN doing to Kyle Petterson as they did to Harrold reynolds. He was to me the best at doing College baseball there was and now it is Peterson. I hope for those of us who love College baseball ESPN does not pull the rug out from under us. ESPN is trying to push LaCross because it is a big North Eastern sport and baseball is played very well up there and that being a highly populated area gets what it wants and to heck with the rest of us.

Kyle Peterson

The perfect college baseball broadcast would be Kyle Peterson and Harold Reynolds, with Erin Andrews (and/or Turner) doing the dugout interviews

Wasn't there some sort of scandal involving Reynolds? I think ESPN canned him because of some wrongdoing, not because of the reasons you cite.

Well if he can help himself from getting a boner when he hugs a chick in Bristol, then you won't have anything to worry about.

I remembered there was something. It had nothing to do with ESPN's interest in college baseball.

I met and visited with HR in Omaha. He was in our hotel. Very nice guy.

When I was younger and living in Iowa I played in baseball tournaments in Omaha during the CWS. Harold Reynolds stayed at our hotel once so we would run into him from time to time and he was very friendly. He would stop and talk to all the guys on the team. Never would have pegged him to be fired for sexual harassment.

Did not know for sure why he left or was fired for but, he was without a doubt the best when it came to the college game. But it was at that time that ESPN chose to go in other directions because they did not have anyone else to push College baseball like he did. I still say if for whatever reason he left College baseball would be more on the national scene now than it is. JMHO!
