Seems to me, 247 had him ranked as the #4 interior lineman and the #4 player in the state. Also, the #97 ranked overall player in the country.
You're looking at "composite."
I don't really care what ESPN or Rivals says on evaluations.

Thomas came to LSU with his 5-star ranking and has been nothing but a complete bust
Everybody likes to blame the player instead blaming the staff.
If we were consistently pumping out 1st or 2nd round draft picks from our oline then I would label Thomas a bust.
Have you ever thought of the fact that we can't develop great offensive lineman here at LSU. In the last 10 years we've had more underachieving lineman than lineman who actually lived up to their HS rating. Collins is the only highly rated guy that lived up to hype.

There may be some truth to this. LSU doesn't appear to have a lot of "athletes" at OL. Just a lot of really big guys. Ingram is 320. Hines is 350. Bradford is 365!!! For his part, Deculus is 325. Some might argue those guys are all too big to move well.
Deculus was a near 5 star recruit but after that, when you go down the roster, it's pretty bleak
*Wire - 3 star recruit, 247's 30th OT recruit, No. 428 overall
*Ingram - 4 star, 247's 15th OG, No. 211 overall
*Shanny - a 6th year transfer from Harvard
*Hines - a converted 3 star DT/ Bradford - a 4 star recruit ranked below Thomas
So your top 6 there is one recruit that was a top 100 overall recruit in his class
Y'all don't even want to compare this level of recruiting to Alabama's.

Compare our OL recruiting to Florida, A&M, and Auburn. I bet we fall short. We are light years away from Alabama.

I totally agree that we probably go after some players that have no desire to come to LSU, but how does this continue to happen year after year? It would seem that somebody on the staff would recognize that we need to change direction in our recruiting of OL.
My biggest gripe is our OL talent isn't near the level of other top-level SEC teams and that's just a recipe for disaster. The new OL coach was quoted as saying his biggest disappointment this past weekend was that the OL "wasn't aggressive"! WTF! If this veteran OL group doesn't realize the level of aggression that is needed to win every Saturday at this point, they need to all be benched!
