Give it up Doc. These are now the following Rant myths:

He can't throw.

Doesn't know the offense.

Can't line up.

Has a fumbling problem.
Most of these things are not a myth. He never attempted a pass so their is no proof if he can/can't make some good throws in a game situation but the rest is based in on the field performance.

I think Shep will be a great and exciting player but he didn't seem ready to play for whatever reason this year and to say he should have gotten more playing time just because he showed flashes of greatness is not smart football. In his very limited playing time, he put the ball on the turf 4-5 times, he had to be told where to line-up about half the time he played RB and had to burn a TO a couple of times at QB because he didn't understand or know the play. That's not a knock on the young man. He was a freshman and trying to learn 3 positions but he hurt the team just as much as he helped it. As a coach, you have to play the players you trust and Shep didn't earn very much trust this year. He will mature and be a force in the years to come.

I just don't understand how he could do something in high school amazingly for 3 full seasons, then not even be given a true chance to do the same in college.

Ah well. We had the 112th ranked offense in college football. I trust our coaches know what they're doing.

Way to leave off half of the quote. That play you linked was his flash of greatness.

Do you want to link the other 15+ plays where he didn't hold on to the ball, didn't know where to line up or had to call TO becasue he didn't know the play. Playing a player before they are ready doesn't help anyone....the player or the team. The coaches were forced to destroy the confidence of one of our QB's by playing him before he was ready. I'm glad they are letting Shep mature more before giving him more playing time. How many more fumbles or plays where he gets dumped on his head do you need to see before you can figure out he needs more time to mature. I don't want to see his confidence hurt. He will be better next year is he is cocky and hungry in the offseason with something to prove. Truth is....he should have been redshirted but was such a highly touted recruit the coaches felt they had to give him a shot at making some plays.

Then redshirt him. The coaches totally fricked up his freshman season.

Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns of the late 1960's starring Clint Eastwood. Specifically, (I think) the film "For a Few Dollars More". Ennio Morricone was the composer for the film's soundtrack.

I agree with this but some of it was Shep wanting a shot to play QB. If he would have been working at WR and RB last spring, I think he would have had a more productive season. By playing QB in the spring and trying to learn 2 more positions in fall camp it was too much for him to focus on as a true freshman. The coaches were kind of in a no win situation becasue they had to give him his shot at QB and it limited his ability to work with position coaches at WR and RB. In the end I agree with you that they should have just redshirted him and given him and them time to identify his role on the team.

No, he fumbled 4-5 times and we lost all but one. He also droped a few passes, had to be told where to line up at running back about half the time and didn't seem to know the plays sometimes at QB and had to burn a TO. All told, for his limited playing time that is a lot of mistakes and could make a fine blooper reel. Again, I am not blaming Shep. No freshman can learn 3 positions. It was not a good situation for him his freshman year. I think he will be a great player and Gonzo will identify his role on the team for next year.

I saw that on the youTube comments, but I cant seem to find this particular version. It's obviously a remix sampling the soundtrack from the movie - guess I'll never be able to find it

How did we not run the play the fake option pass with Shep. It was in the playbook back in 07 against Virginia Tech. I guess Crowton just forgot about it.
