They don't even have to "whistle." They just make any kind of noise and he runs to get his belly rubs. It's actually kind of pathetic

It's always been Mike's decision on whether or not to get into the carrier. Mike V enjoyed the carrier so he usually voluntarily climbed in. I don't know the full story regarding Mike VI, but my guess is he doesn't like the carrier. The same vet who oversaw Mike V's care takes care of Mike VI so I'm sure the philosophy has not changed...get over it.
