Some of our players can be huge idiots at times. After the fiesta bowl, about 4-5 of our WR’s went live on Instagram and they were rolling up a joint in the fricking background lol

The point is why are we trying to catch people? LSU compliance is not law enforcement, are they?

No, I'm saying when you are told that rule A is dont do X and the penalty is Y if you do, for goodness sake dont do X.
Whether or not I agree with rule A, whether or not other schools enforce penalty Y or even monitor rule A, whether or not my momma or my preacher said it was ok, whether or not I'm having a hard time and realky feel I need to do X, whether or not I am a 18 yr old man, does not freaking matter one iota.
They are told the rules, they willfully broke them. It's not difficult, dont break the rules.
Unless you are espousing that it is impossible for these young players to avoid breaking the rules, you really have no argument here.

No, but they’re tasked with protecting the university. Having players arrested, even for weed, reflects poorly on the school and program. Any arrest could possibly impact the university from a financial stand point as well.
Are they overzealous? Yes. I don’t think anyone is arguing otherwise. This still doesn’t excuse the players behavior when they know the consequences of their actions.

Bingo. At some point the LSU compliance office crossed the line from trying to keep the football clean by NCAA standards to literally policing the players. Their moralizing bullshite is hurting the team.

For all you guys arguing back and forth, 2 things can be true simultaneously
1)The players that get caught are dumb as a box of rocks, considering they are at a school that has very publicly suspended and dismissed star level players over the years for weed, and if nothing else just watched what happened to Fulton
AND
2)The AD/Compliance is dub as a box of rocks for putting in and enforcing rules that voluntarily put LSU at a competitive disadvantage to it's conference peers for no real reason whatsoever, other than some type of moral high ground chest thumping
