Josh had another amazing play today. Unfortunately there isn’t a good angle. He caught a pop fly running straight back from 3B.

Nope. That's not how MLB contracts work.
Josh is making $749,500 this season and is just entering his arbitration years. It's possible he could triple his salary in his first year of arbitration, but he is at least three years away from being a free agent, which is probably the only way he will "make some bank."
The good news is that he has gone from being one of the weakest hitters in the American League (in terms of exit velocity) to proving that he can indeed swing a major league bat. He's had a phenomenal season.
He's become just an all-round good player, no matter where the Rangers play him. Manager Bruce Bochy loves him.
When the regular third baseman, Josh Jung, returns soon from a broken hand, Smith likely will rotate between shortstop, third base and left field. He has proven that he's too valuable not to play him every day.

Interesting he lead off instead of semien and wonder if smith might push him out when Jung returns
