Yeah, why people give Jordy a hard time I don't understand. He's a helluva nice guy, intelligent, an LSU alum, and an ambassador for the school. If he didn't tan, no one would say a cross word about him. I don't get what the problem is.
I grew up less then 1/2 mile from him. He was douche. I talked to him maybe 10 yrs ago...and yes-imo he's still a douche. But he's a tiger,so i'll cut him some slack.

More trivia:
They showed his wedding video on that cheesy show "Inside LSU Basketball" (his first marriage in the 1970's.)
Dale Brown had some kind of man crush on him. In the Superdome when LSU won the game to go to the Final Four, Jordy turned around at the free throw line and screamed at Dale: "I love you Coach Brown!"
Dale had some kind of nickname for him like "the blonde bomber."
All this in the era of Tim Brando doing play by play. Lots of disco style hair.

From LSUsports.net:
"Jordy Hultberg – G – 1977-80 – Averaged 12.8 points, 4.0 assists in 1977 ... 9.7 points in 1978 ...9.6 points in 1979 ... 1,067 career points, 34th all-time on school list, 9.3 average for 114 games."
So Jordy streaked his way to more than a thousand career points, which isn't too shabby at all. Not Maravich, but many notches above Voogd. But one earlier post makes me wonder -- would Dale Brown have fallen in love with Ben Voogd?

He's a douche. Met him quite a few times. Brown was strange as well.

He married well. I remember he went from player to media right away. How many could pull that off without their father in laws help.

he used to light it up from way back.probably would have had a better average but if im not mistaken they didnt have a 3 point line in his day.
i was a young kid but always an avid lsu fan.i bleed purple and gold.

decent for the time period, as far as a shooter - he was no howard carter though...today, probably never sees the court...except in a blowout

i seen him with his sons at a catholic game years ago.i wonder how old they are and if they will play basketball.two hultburgs at lsu lighting it up.

Wow he pumped in 28 against Vandy in 1979. I do not think Vandy had any black players at that time. He must have scored 2-3 against Kentucky for bring his average to 9ppg for the season.

"The Blonde Bomber" I was young but my parents had season tickets for us back then and we made every home game. I can remember keeping score in the program. Had there been a 3-pt line back then, he would have been one of the best.

i didnt say he was bob petit.but i do say hes a lsu tiger and continues to bleed purple and gold.

I remember him as a good outside shooter.
I was sitting down low by the bench one time and saw him steal an inbounds pass and lay it in....for years when I was a little kid I thought it was the greatest play I had ever seen.

I've seen a few use "douche". But exactly how? What behaviors or interactions support that contention?

Sigma Chi-Late 70's = douche

How good of a player was he for those who saw him in person?
Good shooter if he could get his feet square. Average at best ball handler for his position, not all that good a defender.
Played more early in his career when the team was less talented. Dale finally started landing some talent and Jordy's PT dwindled.
Scored more his freshman year than any. His PPG dropped each year he played from a high of 12.8 as a frosh to 5.4 as a senior.
Did close out his career with a good game in the Elite 8 loss to Louisville.

I was at LSU from 73-80 and Hultberg could shoot fouls in direct contrast to all the oithers there at that time except Bob Miller and Eddie P.
Good player

He refers to himself as "the J-Man." That qualifies as douche in my book.
