Unfortunately Coach Cal has preached this all year long and EVERYONE has bought into this idea that if WCS or any UK player had more mins their production would rise. WCS averages 25 mins a game Mickey averages 35. So the logic is, if WCS played 35 mins he would have a higher production which doesnt matter because he doesnt play that much. UK doesnt deserve the POTY if nobody puts up the numbers that Mickey or Portis does.

Yes, he could win the POTY award but his team isn't on top the SEC and they have three guys that could win that award so he won't.

Between him and Portis IMO. JM is a better overall player but Arkansas is having a better season and that could be the difference. CS at UK is excellent but only 1 of about 8 extremely talented guys and thereby his numbers are reduced.

Mickey is having a great year and is more than deserving of post season accolades. But I have a hard time saying he's a better overall player than Bobby Portis.
Mickey - 35.4mpg, 17.1ppg (53.1% FG and 67.8% FT). 10.8rebs, 0.9steals, 3.8blocks, 3.4TOs. PER40- 19.3ppg, 12.2rebs, 1.0steals, 4.3blocks, 3.8TOs
Portis - 29.3mpg, 17.7ppg (56%FG and 75%FT). 8.6rebs, 1.0steal, 1.4blocks, 1.3TOs. PER40 - 24.1ppg, 11.8rebs, 1.3steals, 1.9blocks, 1.8TOs.
Mickey is better with blocks, obviously, but also turns it over way more than Portis does per game. And Portis plays 6minutes less, but scores more and at a more efficient rate. Look at the PER40 for comparison...
I'm a huge Mickey fan and love what he brings to our team. But I just think Portis is the SEC POTY. Mickey is right there with him though. But Portis has been dominant all year and is the main reason Arky is a top 25team right now.

I figured out Jordan Mickey trajectory. If he continues to develop his offensive game he will be the next draymond green. He shoots better than green did in college from mid range and prolly a better ball handler. When basketball becomes his life in NBA he will develop skills and more range.
Sorry, but no. He's not a better shooter or ball handler. Green shot 37.7% from 3 his last 2 years of college and was always more comfortable playing on the perimeter than in the post. Mickey is just the opposite. He's way more comfortable playing down low than on the perimeter. And Mickey is not a good ball handler. It's 1 of the main reasons why he's averaging 3.4 turnovers per game. Green would take the ball up the court half the time for Mich St. And Green played on the perimeter most of the time his last 2 seasons at Mich St. Mickey is almost always within 10ft of the goal.
Yea Mickey is more atheltic, but is not as skilled with the ball in his hands as Green. And Mickey has a higher FG%, but that's mainly because majority of his baskets come within 10ft of the goal while Green was playing on the perimeter. And Mickey is improved with his shooting and what not, but he still gets 70%of his points in the paint.
Mickey reminds me of a shorter version Taj Gibson for the Bulls... Off the bench big who can run the floor well and brings energy to the court with dunks and blocks. But he's gonna have a harder time at that due to his height and I haven't ' seen anything from Mickey that makes me think he will be able to play on the perimeter In the NBA where guys are bigger, stronger, faster, and better than they are in college. His NBA outlook is very mirky.

Nobody from Kentucky is winning
It's Mickey's to lose IMO. It seems like he's gone above his averages every game the last month

Although I think Mickey should win, Portis will win because of his team's success. JM has the SEC Defensive POTY on lock though.

It's going to be Portis or Mickey.
As dumb as it is, I bet it comes down to the winner of our matchup

Mickey= Hakim Warrick
He's about 6'7" with shoes on. Taj Gibson is almost 6'10"
