We’re real excited about who we got,'' said Kitchens. "He offers an elite skillset that enables him to cover.''

Dorsey loves everything about Williams, and was aggressive in moving up for him.

"He’s immensely talented, he’s got feet, he’s got hips, he’s got length, he can press, he can play off. Now you just want to see him mature moving forward.

“In all the evaluations, he’s played some of the top-caliber receivers in the SEC,'' said Dorsey. "Corners in the NFL have to cover and he has all the skills to cover. This is the prototypical corner in the NFL. I like big corners.''

One of the LSU coaches told Dorsey that Williams "is one of the most gifted corners ever to come through LSU. ...He’s got a nice intuitive feel about the game of football.'

Will his tackling ability be solid enough at the NFL level to accent his coverage skills?

There’s no tackling when he breaks up a catch.

Plenty of NFL corners are poor tacklers, he can cover which is what corners are paid to do.

Whoever came up with this soft tackling thing had an agenda. He’s a lock down corner. Not a linebacker. The best corners aren’t exactly tackling machines. Deion said it best himself. He’s not out there to tackle.

This was what hurt him in the draft. Not talent but mental and emotional maturity. Once he does the dude will one of the best ever.

Deion sanders played in a different era of football. Today NFL teams use the short pass game to replace a heavy run game and to get playmakers in space. Saying that corners a defensive backs have to be able to tackle as well if not there teams get beat.

The fact that he almost quit LSU when he red shirted and what transpired after he declared for the draft, missing the bowl game, tells you a good bit about his maturity and his priorities. I’m not surprised he went behind all those other CB’s. He’s definitely talented enough to be the best CB this year but GM’s look at all aspects of a player.

Would hate to be the guy who drafted someone that didn’t have these tangibles
