Why? 589 will have him at 1 more yard than the previous SEC record.

Better passing vs sec than kyler in big12, but kyler ran for a ton.
Still, we're seeing one of the best sec qb seasons ever.

Hope to see it again before I die but doubt it. This is a truly special season for everyone that’s a fan teammate coach but most importantly Joe and his family. The beginning of a legacy that he will tell his grandchildren

Math is right. Joe needs 588 yards and 6 TDs to TIE but 589 and 7 TDS to hold the record outright.

in seasons prior to 02, bowl stats generally aren't included. so Couch is missing an additional 336 yards from his bowl game (for a total if 4611) if Wiki is right.

Joe should break that anyway, but maybe in 1 more game than Couch had.

Looks like you’re right.. those 4,275 yards were in 11 games. LINK

Regardless, seems there’s a good chance Burrow breaks the record in the regular season (albeit in 12 games).

Drew Lock’s touchdown record was set in 13 games.
