Again, there is no indication that the Tight formation used in the first half was the problem.
Answer: Because it sucks as a passing formation.

This is exactly what he is doing..
He is, and he gets really defensive when you call him out on it. When someone calls a spade a spade he calls it abuse. He's not an LSU fan. He is only interested in Burrow's stats. This has been obvious for a looooong time, but people are more receptive of it right now because LSU is doing good.
Let Burrow have a bad game, even if LSU wins, and he will show his true colors even more. Not a single person on this board is pissed about Burrow, or the LSU offense AT ALL. He spent an entire off-season making excuses, incase Burrow didn't do good, and he's now doing the same thing with Auburn and Bama looming.

I remember Chase getting mugged in the end zone, but I hate running out of a bunch formation
Just based on the formation you bring 8-9 into the box. In the redzone it’s even more because you don’t need to play the safeties 15 feet deep.
I know you also have extra blockers I always prefer spreading it out to run.
Also it hasn’t been what we’ve been doing a lot this year

My dear god. Did you just start watching football?
Let's take the Saints, which is the obvious reference for this offense. Do you know that in the 2017 season, when Brady was there, they used 3 WR sets 43% of the time and 2 WR sets 21% of the time? They had the 5th best passing offense in the NFL that season. Who had the best? The Patriots. Do you want to know how many times came out in 4 WR sets? On 2% of their personal groupings. The Saints and the Pats came out in 5 WR sets only 1% of the time.
You are acting good passing teams only use 4 WR sets, as though that is their primary formation. I would suspect our personal groupings mimic the Saints as well, as more often than not, we are in 3 WR sets.
Regardless, blaming your perception of the offensive "ineptitude" solely on the Tight formation is completely silly, and certainly doesn't reflect the actual play on the field.

You never heard of I FORM TIGHT? Ace big? Ace jumbo. Wow.

quote:No, Slick. I am saying no team is running a successful passing game out of a Tight formation. And DEFINITELY not the Saints or the Pats!!!!!

Chase was mugged on the 1st drive when we ran a little comeback in the endzone too, and that was out of a 5-wide set. Seems MSU specifically tried to scheme so that Chase would be negated in the redzone.

Are you saying the Saints don't use the Tight formation? Go on record so I can prove you wrong again. And we were passing successfully out of the Tight until inside the 10.

Yep. shite LSU is in gun way more than saints. Saints use ACE all the time. Along with gun. Saints also while using some RPO and pro style spread concepts also use tight and big formations as well. Sometimes with a fullback on the strong side.

Holy shite. Saints use tight formations all the time out oF ACE. suck eye joe cannot be taken seriously anymore. Not that she ever was here anyway. Lol.

Ya..but the Saints are stuck with Brees. If they had Joe...they would be 5-wide every play to utilize his ridiculous skill set. Please get with the program.

I have long been a proponent of 3wide/1 TE sets. If memory serves me correctly, Jimbo ran a ton of this at LSU while he was here with Henderson/Clayton etc

Payton's offense is built on West Coast principles too. It isn't what I would consider an Air Raid Spread either, as the I don't think they use the wide line splits that defined the Leach-Mumme school of the Spread concept.
I can't imagine this dude's reaction to using the Ace. Burrow under center?
Buckeye Jeaux: WHAT OFFENSE HAS EVER WON ANYTHING WITH THE QB UNDER CENTER!!!!??!?!?!?

"All the time"? How many, exactly, is all the time? 19 in a half? When? which game?

Seriously? You're trying to pawn off the Ace as a Tight formation? LOL!!!

Again, why would a successful offensive coach want to introduce something new to his offense mid-season? Think about it. I can walk you through it if you need some help.
