Again I ask how you pin this on Alleva.

Never parade someone before getting a contract signed. He would have been fired elsewhere for that.

It's fairly common for the intro press conference to be held before the final contract is signed.

This is true, but it's not smart to say something is a "done deal" without at least notification from the source that there is a PC being held or announcement that it is a done deal.

They like Joe because his business like demeanor. Everyone knows true LSU fan seats have disappeared thanks to rising ticket prices and now all you have is corporate seats that lead to an empty stadium at half time, but hey! it makes more money and for all of you who think money is everything and whichever decision leads to the most money being made is the right decision don't have a reason to complain about Joe staying.

If you'd like it to not be all about money you should think back to how LSU football was in the early 90's.

bullshite. Vision my arse. Admit it Joe, it was about the $$$$. Simple. It's about the $$$$ yesterday, today, and tomorrow. We all leverage that situation for more $$$$, but don't do the great-vision-song-and-dance. That just ticks me off every time.

I agree with that ... don't feed me BS, Joe ... if you stayed cause LSU upped your offer and/or matched what Tennessee was going to pay, then just tell me that. I don't need the fluff.

All that said, I really don't care one way or the other in regards to Alleva staying or going. He's done nothing to piss me off yet and he's done nothing to make me feel attached to him yet. It's too "young" in his LSU tenure IMO to really know if he's a solid AD or not. For the sake of continuity and stability, especially given the current NCAA issues we're facing, I'd prefer LSU not have athletic dept. changes/chaos at this particular moment, so it's a good thing he stayed I guess.

eta: and FWIW i think most people look at an AD's hires to judge his/her work, but there is soooo much more to being an athletic director than hires. 95% of what an AD does the general public has no idea, so its really hard for the everyday fan to properly evaluate the performance of an AD.

How much is he going to end up making now? Supposedly UT was willing to go to 1 mil a year.

Did Alleva even listen to what UT was offering? If he didn't he's a shitty businessman.

And if you think this is an Alleva product, rather than a Saban-Bertman product, you haven't been paying attention.

Does this whole thing make you feel like we got 'used?' Just be honest that you entertained another option and stayed at LSU because they agreed to match/ increase the offer.

“Baton Rouge is my home and I want to be part of the community for a long time to come,” Alleva said in a university news release.
“There is more work to be done and my heart bleeds purple and gold.”

I don't think this guy bleeds purple and gold at all. He bleeds green and used the orange to get more green out of LSU. He is overpaying for women's coaches and is overpaid himself. When is someone going to wake up and say enough is enough with the money that is being thrown away. LSU wants more money for tickets, more money for parking, more money for clubs, more money for suites, more money for this program and that program....yet the AD is putting more money in his pocket.
The finances surrounding college athletics is past the point of no return and now we have the people that are making the decisions taking advantage of it to line their own pockets with more money.
I don't like the way this went down at all. I would rather have seen him go and elevate Herb Vincent. That guy bleeds purple and gold.

no doubt. my ut sources say that lsu matched their offer and he bailed on what was supposed to be a presser to introduce him today.
