i think the total opposite.... i talked to a friend that coaches at tennessee today and he said they had all been told last week that alleva had agreed to a deal and would be introduced tomorrow.... sounds to me like he was gone and lsu came in at the last minute to outdo tennessee....

Aleva played LSU like a bad fiddle. Said his 'heart bleeds purple and gold.' I say it bleeds green. Anybody who'd give a coach a raise who finished last in the SEC two years in a row should pay for it out of his pocket.

Wow. He may suck at being an athletic director, but he's great at negotiation. How the heck did we let him pressure us into giving him a raise? He's done nothing to speak of at lsu or duke. This is about as dumb as giving skip 750k a year to be AD emeritus after he retired.

Not at all. Have you looked at alleva's history at duke? His only signature hire here has been Johnson over Anthony grant et al. Why does that deserve a raise?
