You're focusing on only one part of what I said...I still think his game needs refining. Staying one more year may be able to boost him into the first round if he becomes a more consistent scorer and defender. He can do that while also graduating now.

Why not refine your game under professional coaches, while an organization agrees to pay you more money than you've ever seen?

His game can be refined as a professional making money and being able to use 100% of his time to basketball.
People make the NBA from the D league and overseas all the time. No guarantee, but he is guaranteed the 60-100k he can make overseas while refining his game.

I just wanted him to stay, damn it.
But you are right. That's a good way to do it, as well. People make the leap from overseas to the NBA all the time.

#64 prospect per Draft Express today. Mickey #62. Big mistake.

JOB is what, 6'8? That's just fine in today's NBA. This isn't the 90's where all of your power forwards had to be 6'10. There's a place for him in the league. He wasn't going to improve his stock by staying.

JOB is a good player and I hope he sticks with an NBA team...It's a sad testament to LSU basketball coaching that the offense had to continually go through Johnny O to try and win games, and had no other consistent options.
JOB was able to carry the team a few times, but was mostly overwhelmed trying to do so.

"He is a Brandon Bass type player minus the mid range game,"
And quick explosive hops and good strong hands and great desire and work ethic..........Good luck JOB I appreciate your efforts.

Not unexpected. His stock won't get any higher in college. Best of luck to him.
Probably not, but look at a guy like Shabazz Napier. He didn't increase his size or ability, but he's gone from a 2nd round pick to a probably late first. Nothing wrong with staying 4 years, but these kids sadly see that as some sort of failure.

No, they don't. It's not a foolish pride thing. He's making the best move for his career.

and this is where we're splitting hairs, comes down to opinions, IMO JOB can't improve any more, you think he can, if he could improve yes come back, but i don't think he can, we'll agree to disagree

I don't know had that's a sad testament to coaching. He was a really good offensive player and has post moves that a lot of NBA big men don't have.

Yeah, I don't see this necessarily as an indictment on the coaching, more so a testament to our lack of options. Maybe we could have gone more fast paced and pushed off of misses a bit, maybe a bit more off-ball movement, but in general, our lack of consistent perimeter players had us handcuffed.

Right, and that seems like the direction Jones wants the program headed with the style of recruits coming in. It's kind of been all his team's m.o., but Johnny O's offensive prowress gets underated here. His array of post moves is something that isn't very common in college or even the NBA for that matter.

Agreed. I think he's really going to turn some heads when people see him play in a game where he isn't doubled or tripled on every single possession.

What would happen to college athletics if every player that could not "improve their pro draft status" any higher quit the college game? What would happen to high school athletics if every athlete that couldn't "improve their college scholarship status" any higher quit the high school game?
What is so miserable about being a college athlete? Is competing for a university at the highest level of college athletics so boring and uninteresting for these kids?

Did anyone honestly think he was gonna stay another year? Best of luck, JOB III. I'll be rooting for ya.

I don't know. The ones that have a legit shot at the NBA already do this.

Not sure what this has to do with anything.

It has nothing to do with it being "miserable" or "uninteresting". It has to do with wanting to make a living doing something he loves. He wants a career in basketball. Why do you hate that so much? I doubt he would post on a message board not-so-subtly criticizing you for taking a job in your desired field one year before you graduate.
