Want to bet being banned for the 2012 season that Jefferson won't win the heisman?
No.

Why are people so up in arms over the Heisman talk? Does he deserve it right now.....no. But seriously...who gives a shite if his name is mentioned? Its not that big of a deal.

I agree. I think it's legit that he is getting to go spend the day at ESPN and talk. We are going to be a great team this fall. I hope Krag turns JJ into a better passer

Come On guys! Let's beat up JJ! It's gonna be fun!

Carson Palmer's first three seasons were HIDEOUS and I think he won a Heisman his senior year.....Kevin Garnett says "Nothing is Impossible"
sure are lot's of "LSU" fans who love to hate this young man, rather sad and pitiful example of our fanbase

a slight improvement won't get him Heisman pub dude. From his pitiful passings stats a slight improvement gets him to like 11 TDs.
spencer ware has a better shot at the Heisman, not that I think he gets an invite though.

guy needs much more than a SLIGHT improvement
Not really. He has all the tools. If Krags get him to stop holding on to the ball he could be very dangerous. I don't think we really know how bad Crowton broke Jefferson after he sat him down and made him watch the JLee film from '08. Crowton admitted last year that for 2 years he'd been telling Jefferson to take the sack and live to play another down.

He threw one touchdown against bama
And one more td through the SEC
2 TD's against 8 SEC teams

His accuracy as a passer is truly terrible. Crowton is at fault.. but so is JJ. He needs a world of improvement to even be considered in the top-3 QBs of the SEC.. let alone the nation.
He may blow up and be a heisman candidate.. but don't get your hopes up.

I'm just saying it's not absolutely ridiculous. JJ could have some rushing TDs to boost up his TD total this year. You never know.

I'm having a hard time with the Heisman talk though.
why?
why are people getting upset over Heisman talk? The only reason he got mentioned is because he's the starting QB of a top 5 team with a new OC/Qb coach. And i honestly don't give a shite about last year anymore....seems like some people cant seem to get over it though.

Hell I hope he wins it. That means he and the team had a damn strong season.
Haters gonna hate.

He's deadly accurate on the run and his arm strength has never been a question. I'll give you awareness though.

Actually....
let's play devil's advocate here. supposing LSU can win the NC (as has been predicted by more than a few), that gives us a bit of a boost right off the bat as far as awards go. Now, lets speculate that JJ has his best year.
In 09 he was a bit over 2000 yds passing, with 17 TDs and 7 int. So figure a little better numbers than that, throw in some timely scrambles for big plays in big games, maybe rush for 40-50 yds a game, reduce the sacks, and have us undefeated and winning it all.
Best player in college football? Not a chance. Significant media coverage each and every week, and sucessful in each game? Yep.
Remember Eric Crouch won at Nebraska.
edited to add- remember the Heisman is a beauty contest. If he has a bunch of games along the lines of the aTm game, and those are all on national TV, AND we win it all, his numbers won't approach some other QBs, but he'll be a whole lot more known. Toss in a couple freelance plays like his TD against Fla on the goal-line, and he'll be thought of as very dangerous overall.
