I recall that JJ was sort of a consolation QB AFTER we couldn't land some of those 5 star guys.

fwiw, I'll take Barkley and Crist over either QB on our roster.

IIRC, everybody else who was recruiting JJ quit, so he took the LSU offer.

LSU won in spite of Jordan Jefferson, not because of him. Can you name a single starting QB in the SEC you wouldn't trade Jefferson for straight up? How many field goal attempts did LSU have this season, and how many of them were stalled red zone opportunities? 4 TD passes when you start 12 games is worse than pathetic, and it allows opposing defenses to disregard the pass in the red zone.

FYI
QB Rating and national rank
#29 Barkley, SO 143
#57 Crist, JR 129
#84 Brantley JR 120
#91 Gilbert, SO 112
#97 Jefferson, JR 110.

We do have a five star qb, his name is Russel Sheppard.

Exactly. I wonder if Florida, Michigan, or Texas (the three spread offense teams that offered him and were in need of a QB at that time) would have Shepard at wideout...

What do you think RS could do in Chip Kellyu/Oregon's offense? Rich Rod?

Just for comparison's sake.

Same thought, different question: Where would Darran Thomas be on Crowton's depth chart?

I think h would be unreal in both. Its ashame he is being wasted here. While JJ and Lee struggle.

It says JJ vs "other" 5* QBs.

That is saying that JJ was a 5* QB as well.

Actually, no, you're wrong.
