but I don't think he's worth the money that they paid him.

Market demand determines and sets the market rate. This was the point Jimbo made in his press conference about the ACC which took steps up because programs were willing to pay more for staff salaries like the SEC.

After the Timberwolves paid Kevin Garnett his salary in 1997 and the lockout was over, that was the new standard for contracts.

His contract is insane yes, but A&M is showing it will pay like a top tier program for what it considers a long term investment. How much is LSU going to end up paying Miles, Cameron, Canada, Orgeron, and any remaining coaches on the staff that will be fired and bought out from those two regimes when it is all said and done?

If Joe keeps his mouth shut and keeps his business in the building then the could have done exactly what Georgia did and landed Jimbo.
you realize there's no way alleva could prevent f king from stepping in, right? at some point, joe has to be accountable to the system, even if the money was private, which it wasn't 100%.

and i still don't know where people are getting jindal's involvement from

I’ve already stated twice in this thread :

75 million dollars is less than what LSU paid Saban , Miles, and O combined.

So for aTm to get a ROI in the ballpark of what LSU paid for its 2 titles and 4 SEC titles , aTm would need to win prob 4 nattys and 6 SEC titles to justify that gargantuan number.

You’re assuming that their value for money equals LSU’s.

They have a lot more of it, which means it’s probably not as valuable to them. Abundance of something decreases its value. Scarcity increases it. They don’t need 4 NCs for it to be a good deal for them.

Spending more money just because you have it does not make you special.

It just makes you someone who shouldn’t be trusted with money.

Wasn't LSU on the chopping block when Louisiana was going broke?

You're not gonna convince these assholes. The very idea that a natty is worth 75M is too absurd for words.
...especially when you have to go thru Saban to even sniff an SEC championship.

My whole issue with "the deal" is, where is the incentive year 2-10. your gonna make 75mill no matter if your 13-0 or 0-13. I would hope pride in producing a good product would be enough, but who knows? A&m is on the hook for 75m no matter the outcome. I'm not sure LSU could afford to gamble like that.

I question your assumption of Florida State's talent level being "as good as LSU's if not better".

Being that LSU had 51 players on opening day NFL Rosters to Florida State's 40 I don't see how you can say Florida State has talent every bit as good as LSU and you certainly can't say it is better.

Jimbo now has to play more than 1 game a year. He will be another so so coach at AM. Ala,LSU,Aub every year is much different than Wake Forest,NC State and Syarcuse

He was 10-10 in his last 20 ACC games with that slate.

No stupid. LSU Athletics is completly self supporting and by law can't recieve a dollar of state revenue for athletics.

The state budget struggles were regarding the Academic budgets of all public universities in Louisiana.

In fact, LSU Athletics donates 7 to 10 million dollars every year back to the academic side of LSU. Incidently Smartass, LSU Athletics donates more than Jimbo's ridiculous salary back to the University every year. That's how poor LSU is dumbass.

Even LSU fans don't stop and think about this when they ramble on about finances. LSU Athletics is very wealthy and has been for many years.

As a matter of fact, LSU's 3 year average of football revenue is 82 million vs. A&M's 57 million.

A&M had some donations while building the new stadium that inflated A&M's money on paper. The same thing occurred a few years ago at Arkansas. However, if you are looking at sustained income LSU football badly outperforms A&M. That is the plain and simple truth. LINK

If JF struggles, A$M will simply pay him off and throw more of their money at another coach

That’s irony for you. TAMU going all out on a NC winning coach = stupid gamble

So, 15 years guaranteed is ok with you? 20? 25? Getting Jimbo wasn't the stupid part. Guaranteeing 10 years = stupid.
