This is a stupid saying. I can graze a ball with my fingertips and have no possible way of catching it and yet, by this saying that's been taken far too literally, I should have caught it. There's no way even Jerry Rice would have been able to control that ball. At best it hit around the 2nd joints in his fingers.

Gotta give Les Miles credit - he knew he would need Jefferson at some point this season so he gave him some action even though it was unpopular amongst the fans. And he stuck with him. I wonder if Lee even sees the field in the 2nd half if not for the lackluster opening drive to start the 3rd quarter. He's managed the QB situation about as well as you could reasonably expect, and i trust he'll do so in the future.

Has anybody figured out why Russell Shepard fell when he caught the pass at the 11 yard line from Jefferson??????
he could have moonwalked into the end zone, I rewinded that a few times and could not figure it out, I guess big game jitters. I expected more out of a five star recruit in his junior year. He is still a solid player though, I'm just getting picky I guess

On the replay i think he thought Beckham was going to catch the pass but he let it go through to Shep a little surpised he just caught it and fell down

He did not throw the ball. They should put R. Shepard back there if we just going to run the option.

You are right man. Lee's mind was gone after the second pick because of the inside pressure. And JJ was just the ticket with the outside option to take advantage of the large but relatively slow Bama linebackers.

But can anyone say Lee was wholly responsible? No. The O-line scheme just did not give Lee enough help. After Bama's pressure, was it not immediately obvious Lee needed two split-back blockers for maximum pass protection since the O-line could not handle Bama?

But the coaches knew a lot more than me, and they chose the right schemes at the right times. So don't take this as a criticism of the coaching.

I hope we don't need to face Bama again, but on the other hand, Miles will have a month to prepare the Tigers for a home game in my New Orleans.

RS is NO Jefferson. Jefferson and Lee, together, will lead us to the promise land. Miles the Magical Hatter knows this to be true.

It would have been a hell of a catch. The angle of the ball barely tapped his finger tips and not in a very catch-able position. The spiral of the ball was barely off, but it was just enough for him to not be able and grip it. Not really Rueben's fault

You missed the point.of this entire thread. I watched the entire replay of the game on CSS who used BAMA announcers in this special. I wanted a different perspective. I analyzed and commentated as the game went along. For every Bama score, Jefferson led a time consuming, ball possessive, game changing field position productive drive that led to points against Bama's vaunted defense. He made BIG plays that accounted in small yard pickups that kept the drives going. Saban's defense had NO answer for Jefferson as he alluded to in his press conference. You are right, they did not end in touchdowns but ultimately won the game. Ill take that on any given Saturday against Alabama and Saban.

Jefferson led a great drive at the end of the 1st half to tie the game at 3. This was an answer to Bama's drive. Jefferson killed Bama on the option and kept them honest with the pass. Randle dropped a sure TD. This was a very impressive drive. The game is on CSS. It's funny listening to Bama's announcers.

Also, bama didn't hold LSU to a field goal at the end of the first half. LSU just ran out of time. Just like overtime, LSU could have punched it down their throats.

I still don't understand why Shep fell on the pass that Verne thought was intercepted. Looked like it hit in right in the gut and he just fell. He could have scored.

Was this the same drive JJ hit Shepard on a pass that got inside the 10? Man, that was a for sure TD if thrown better, Shepard was wide open.

JJ did a great Job, But JL brings a different aspects to our game. Playing a D like Bama is hell on a passing QB just like we were on the Bama QB.We need both QB's and this is the reason we won the Bama game b/c it hard to prepare for 2 different styles.

The problem was that Lee couldn't go through the READ quick enough.

JJ couldn't either. That's why he had to run on pass attempts. Credit the Bama rush. Our OL couldn't buy enough time for either of our QB's

You're right. It was very evident that their was a lot of heavy hitting. I don't think Lee was prepared for that.

STOP THE NONSENSE. He was fully aware they were going to bring heat. What did you want him to do?

Look at the play again. Shep was wide open in the center of the field and JJ missed it. It looked like JJ was throwing to the other receiver in the area. Shep adjusted to the side of the field and came up with the catch. With Lee throwing that is a clear uncontested TD.

We have 2 QB's with 2 totally different styles. The rush Bama presented just wasn't for Lee. As for passing it wasn't for JJ either.

This is false. The throw was high and outside. Rube barely managed to get a fingertip on it.
