No and I have no reason to. I was just responding to the OP. I don't have a need to join in on your discussion.

In what way is Tennessee not the South? Or North Carolina, for that matter?

what about Virginia? Was the Richmond the capitol of the Confederacy?

having been born there, and lived there for several years, it is southern. The rest of the country certainly considers it to be southern even though a few here do not.

And that means they're not South? Does that mean that Maryland, DC and Delaware (also Mid Atlantic) are not North?

Is this how the sections of the U.S. are taught in school now? Because I have honestly never heard of any demarcation being made at the South Carolina/North Carolina border, and this is DEFINITELY the first I've ever heard of a suggestion that Tennessee is not part of the South.

In what way did you find it not Southern? Or I guess I should ask, what do you find to be "Southern" that you did not find in Richmond?

Btw, though horribly off-topic, this conversation is 10,000 times more interesting to me than any Lee/Jefferson conversation I've seen here all summer.

North Carolina is a southern as it gets. Eastbound & Down is based on a town there and filmed in Wilmington. Can't be more southern redneck than Kenny Powers.

On this board, modern conventions of cultural geography is a subject for much more informed conversation than football.

Ah, here's where I think you're wrong. Redneck isn't exclusively a southern thing. There are rednecks in Montana and I know for sure that no one considers that southern.

In 6th grade I was the class king of geography. I really was. We had a "geography bee" and I won it. I've never won a "football bee", so I guess I should enjoy the turn this thread took.
