LSU won in spite of JLee's play, and in those games

When you make this kind of statement, it shows a total and complete bias and lack of objectivity. Your opinion loses validity.

defense showed up.

Exactly when did that happen this year?

The defense was adequate against Auburn, S.Car., Bama and all the OOC games except Troy. Not great, but good enough to win with a mediocre QB.

This thread isn't about the defense, it's about J. Lee

That is just who he reminds me of.

I'm sorry, I forgot this entire season where JLee singlehandedly won 7 games for LSU and never put his team in the hole.

IMHO with this defense we would have still lost 4 games with Flynn at QB. We needed a playmaker at QB not a caretaker. JLee can be a playmaker at QB before he leaves. A ton of Lee's INTs were a result of him having to throw a ton of balls late in games because the D put him in a hole.

The offense sputtered with Jefferson against Ole Miss. Minus the touchdown.

What I donn't like about fans like you is that you take one person, J. Lee and you blame him for like 3 of LSU's loses.

People like you blame J. Lee for a shitty season.

Practically.......we agree 100%. The defense sucked like no other this season. I mean this is why people have criticized the Pac 10 for years now as well as the Big 12 this year. When your defense is just giving up the first downs and touchdowns its practically impossible to get your offense many chances to score or hold onto the ball.

Philosophically.......I somewhat disagree. Teams have won games with outright HORRIBLE defenses. The key is if you have a QB who is smart with the ball. Someone who is clutch.

I mean bad defense or not....if we had Tebow or Stafford or even that kid at Baylor, Robert Griffin....we would have been much better off than we are now. A decent to great QB wont turn the ball over in the most crucial of times like when we're driving down the field to tie the game or we are trying to sustain a drive long enough to change the field position advantage. A good solid QB will give you that regardless of what the defense does.

Regardless of the QB play by either, the receivers didn't help, but you can't blame that all on them. Especially with Miles holding Tolliver on the sidelines in the beginning of the season. Although, you can blame drops and the senior leadership of Byrd.

But the offense absolutely sputtered with Lee in there and showed no signs of life. Crowton was limited in the playcalling. At least JJ could scramble a bit and actually threw LSU's only TD.

to say Crowton limited the playbook for JLee but could open it up with JJ at QB really cracks me up.

Crowton was calling a wide open game that put a lot on Lee's shoulders which contributed a lot to his mistakes. JJ knew about 10 plays against OM.

Yeah, most offenses look bad when you disregard the touchdowns.

JLee looked GREAT, minus the INTs!

Dude, I will give you Bama, but please don't talk about OOC games. Those are freebies, and we almost lost one of them. So don't even talk about them. Auburn, doesn't count b/c they were just as piss poor as we were. No discipline, back coaching, etc. As a whole, the defense should be criticized more than the offense for LSU unsuccessful season, not J. Lee!

The offense in later part of 2008 looked nothing like the offense of 2007.

Jefferson completed half his passes in the second quarter against Ole Miss for most of his yards.

JJ did run alot of his plays from the Shotgun, and Lee ran most of his from I-form and Ace back

Then please never use the Troy game as an indication of JLee's abilities.

I agree, and there has been no shortage of bitching about the defense. But the offense was also bad, especially later in the year when the running game was stopped and teams dared us to throw.

Hate on Lee if you must, but it was his play in the Auburn game that probably prevented LSU from having the season Auburn did. I hope he stays at LSU and continues competing.

+1
Dropped passes have been a big problem for years now.
