He’s still in a big time slump and the longer we play, the better the pitching gets. He’s a good hitter by today’s standards of power vs k’s, he’s just more on the K side than ever right now. He has greatly improved his hitting against off speed pitches in his 3 years here
That being said, he needs to move down the lineup until he figures it out, which is hopefully before his time here is done.

His bat only touched the ball three or four times and those were foul offs. He bails his head out so much on curveballs. He gets behind in the count so often and has a poor sense of what the strike zone is.

Jones either needs to move closer to the plate and force pitchers to throw him inside or stop pulling out of his swing on outside pitches. He has no chance hitting a ball from the middle to outside of the plate he pulls out so bad. When he hits a ball over the middle of the plate, he pulls out so much that he has been hitting the ball off the end of the bat with zero power. Get closer to the plate and let them throw you inside, and stick you elbow out and get on base. Anything is better than what he is presently doing, over and over and over and over and over!

To me, it appears he is letting heaters go right down the middle because he is expecting off speed every pitch. So he lets fastballs go by him and is down early in the count. Then he gets the slider or changeup he was waiting for but it's out the zone and he chases
