How did yall feel about Jalen cook’s last year here
He had to sit out due to that bogus rule and then he came and made us good then got suspended
But I felt like for the games he played, he made us better

Good player who initially saved LSU's season when became eligible. LSU sucked in the non-conf. schedule (8-5). With Cook, LSU started 3-1 in SEC play.
Bogus or not, it was the rule and everyone knew it. So it was probably foolish to rest so much of your success on one player when you knew he wasn't eligible to play when you signed him and maybe would not be eligible at all during the season.
It was the non-conf. performance that that kept LSU out of consideration for the Tournament despite going 9-9 in SEC play.

When you are recruiting under the cloud of NCAA investigation and the possibility of draconian sanctions you are not in position to quibble and you have to take chances, No one knows what eligibility is any more and it seems litigation often upends a ny authority the NCAA has. Unfortunately, the worst part was he had attitude issues. Cook didn't save the season. The team seemed to jell better and finished strong after Trae was inserted into the starting lineup and started those downhill drives to the basket like he was back on the football field.

Saw Ward playing for VCU last night. Still looking like an undisciplined freshman with lazy basketball habits. Guess he wasn't that big a loss after all

Thanks for spelling all of that out. It still led to NO NCAA TOURNAMENT APPEARANCE for McLOSER

He still makes millions while you stand in the cold and rain outside Circle K begging for spare chain and stogies.

When you can’t come back with facts, make it personal.

He signed a highly ranked class the prior year. Did the "cloud" get bigger the next season?

LSU was 8-5 in the non-conf without Cook (except for the Texas game) and lost to all the major conference opponents they faced, except an OT win over Wake Forest. They were going nowhere, again. Cook led the way to a 3-1 SEC start, which provided some level of cushion when McMahon, McMahoned, and went 1-6 in the next 7 SEC games. They played well in the second half of SEC play, largely without Cook, which got them to .500. But without winning the 3 of 4 to start, that team would not have had the cushion to even get to 9-9. It's entirely likely LSU would have started 1-7 or 2-6 without him given that has been on brand for McMahon. That season was the ONLY season McMahon did not start SEC play 1-7.
