Jake Olsen deserves a lot more love for what he’s done with the safety room

Raymond gets much deserved praise for his impact on the CB room but The development of the safeties under Olsen has been fantastic and has returned that position group to vintage DBU.

Tamarcus Cooley: had virtually no experience playing safety at NC state he was a nickel. Since coming to LSU he’s been one of the best playmaking safeties in the SEC

Jhase Thomas- looks like a seasoned vet despite only being a redshirt freshman. Thomas is always in the right spot, doesn’t miss tackles in space, is rangy and plays wirh confidence. The fact in year 2 Thomas already Looks like a future star and so comfortable is a testament to Olsen’s development.

Benefield and haulcy were already studs at Houston and Boise state so that isn’t surprising they came here and immediately were impact guys but his development of young guys like spears (before he got hurt ), Cooley ( wasn’t rlly a safety at NC state ) and Jhase Thomas has been fun to watch.
