bottom line is peterson is probably one of our 3-5 best players, and no way do you let that talent ride the pine

I got it too. Just reread it. I wouldn't take to much out of it.

did Peterson get benched for his "I'm the best CB ever" comments in the Guilbeau article?

Asked who was running behind him at cornerback recently, Patrick Peterson had a simple answer:
“Everybody,” he said with a proud smile.

Confidence?
Cockiness?
I don't care, because as a cornerback on an island against some of the best WRs in the country, you gotta have that kind of attitude. If you get burned on a play, you still gotta have that attitude for the next play.

Let me know when he starts refusing to go down on 1st contact.

You think Keiland Williams is one of our 3-5 best players?

Maybe not. But if you had told me after the 2006 season that KW would get 70 carries in 2007 and 83 in 2008 I would have said you were crazy.
Just saying that while Peterson's potential seems unlimited, let's wait until he starts, oh, I don't know, 5 games before we annoint him the best DB in LSU history.
I mean, would you consider PP one of the 3-5 best players on the team at this point?
I would certainly put LaFell, Ciron, and Scott above him right now. After that, Dickson, Hitt, Alexander, Jones, and KW are at about the same level as PP IMO based on what he's actually done on the field.
Is that really such a hilarious thought?

Peterson was late getting back from Easter break, missed some meetings.
Now flame away.

That is all, just protocol if you ask me. Nothing to really see here.

Uhh, yeah. take into account talent, potential, production:
LaFell - All SEC WR with a terrible qb last yr
Ciron - All SEC lineman who could be a borderline 1st rounder
Scott - All SEC rb who is already better than hester ever was
Peterson - probably most talented player in the conference at the most athletically demanding position. will be a star next year
Alem - beast

Sounds about right to me.

Uhh, you're missing the point. The majority of people on this board probably would have put Keiland as a top 3-5 player on the team after 06 and before 07 based on POTENTIAL.
Look how that turned out.
Do I think PP is a beast with the potential to be an NFL star? Absolutely. But to say he is without a doubt one of the top 5 players on the team RIGHT NOW when he has all of ONE interception would bode very badly for the state of LSU's program right now IMO.
Why don't we wait and see how it all plays out?

so you named lafell, scott, and black as three of the top players, which i agree on. who are the other two?
when keiland came in 06, there was JR, bowe, davis, and laron just as first rounders. In 07, dorsey, highsmith, jackson just on defense.
they arent similar situations other than the players' hype

of course there is, maybe not on Eugene vs. PP, but other stuff. gimme some scoop on the QBs, or actual position battles. has JJ's throwing motion been corrected? is anybody really pushing Hawkins for his starting spot? why doesn't John Williams play?

I think that if you rate all of the players on the current roster by potential and past production PP is up there in the top 5. Let's not forget that Laron Landry was very similar to PP. And in his sophomore season one of, if not the best player on the team.
CB is a very demanding position and the way I gauge a good corner is the times that the QB throws to the receiver that you're covering. PP didn't have too many QBs pick on him last year and he was a freshman! That, to me, is the ultimate respect.
