Who’s been in the SEC, not the fricking FCS. The last time Muschamp was fired for being a lousy head coach, he turned around an Auburn defense that Fournette made his bitch early in the season to one in the top half of the SEC by the end of it. They held Bama in check at the end of that season.

No matter how bad the man is as a HC, he’s a damn good DC. Just look at Barry Odom for all the evidence you need that one isn’t tied to the other.

All that said, I think Derrick Mason may be even better and he’s also likely to be available after the season.

O should've hired Barry Odom he's way better than pelini and muschamp

Yeah, the fact that he already had a job working for a friend of his hasn’t been covering 10,000,000 times here.

Not a dinosaur in age, his D's have been abysmal at SCar. What makes you think he can come here and be any better than Bo? His lack of adaptations to modern football are what cost him at his last two jobs. Why do some still want him here?

Guess what? Odom’s last couple of defenses at Mizzou weren’t very good against 500 competition, either. Muschamp’s defenses at UF sucked, yet he bounced back within a season as DC at Auburn.

One has NOTHING to do with the other. A good head coach can’t be a DC at the same time. And don’t mention Saban. If he isn’t the exception that proves all rules, then no one is. Damn.

I'm not sure how anyone could know if he's STILL a damn good DC. 2015 Auburn defense wasn't very good. Neither was 2010 Texas.

Auburn was bad defensively when he took the job and they improved a lot over the course of that season. Ideally you would want more to look at, but it’s USC’s fault for being stupid and hiring for a job he obviously isn’t suited to.

He's going to be riding on USCe's dime for a while so if he could come on board as an analyst and help fix our D it would give him an opportunity to resurrect his image and open up a DC opportunity for him here or elsewhere. If he does well then we could consider dumping Bo for him after 2021. Win-win.

Probably unrealistic, but I can dream can't I?

For the record, I thought Muschamp was a hell of a DC at Texas. That said, that was 2008, and the game has changed tremendously since then, and it doesn't appear that he's adjusted. There has to be a better option out there than him.
