I’ve stopped trying to figure this out

I give up.
I try to be as objective as I can, but I keep flip-flopping from week to week.
I can speculate -- endlessly -- about the reasons why Miles does the things that I see on game day.
Much of it seems simply incomprehensible, at least to me.
On the other hand, I also realize that I’m not THERE. I don’t sit in on team meetings, I don’t participate in game-planning sessions. I just don’t KNOW.
All I DO know is what I see on the scoreboard, once it’s at "00:00" -- and I’m beginning to find THAT incomprehensible, too.
At this point, I can’t decide whether Les Miles, at 7-0, is absolutely the luckiest doofus in college football -- or whether he’s the craftiest coach LSU has had in my lifetime.
I’m not going to try anymore. It makes my head hurt.
From now on, on game day, I’m just going to put on my optimistic old “Fear the Hat” teeshirt, and crack a few cold ones, and take the ride -- and I'll still love my Tigers, wherever that ride ends up.

I talked to a guy who said 10 years ago he decided not to let 18-22 year olds decide his mood for the week and said he enjoys football that much more now

no shite.
gonna shift from beer to liquor, consume mass quantities, and say frick it.
This season has turn into a tour of Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.......

this is the only sane way to enjoy sports.

It's a roller coaster. We've had ups and downs. At this point it's all about winning. Just take one game at time and wait till after the Arkansas game before expressing your satisfaction/disappointment with the team and coaches.

And remember no matter what, the sun DOES rise the next day.

I learned this lesson 5 years ago and now enjoy all of college football.

It is indeed painful. One Valium, One Percocet and 6 beer's.

I will never again (at least this season) express dissatisfaction.
When good things happen, I’ll do backflips.
Otherwise, I’ll just accept the weirdness of this season, and carry on.
I’m just too old for this shite.

The 18-22 year olds try as hard as they can to make us happy, and generally do a damn good job. It's that 56 year old that's giving us fits.

I did the same during the 1989-1994 run when we won 20 games TOTAL!
After that kinda suffering, the past decade with both Nick and Les have been a real joy and a walk in the college football park.

Agree. The players are easy to understand and appreciate their efforts win or lose. The 56 yr old dude is making me crazy. I guess I can take a number as another Miles victim.

Yup.
Kids today have no idea what things were like . . .
Stovall, who actually stated, out loud on TV, that he believed more in prayer than in blocking & tackling . . .
Archer, who tried to actually coach on the field, instead of just getting out of the way -- and cost us a possible NC shot . . .
Hallman, with his Little Leage mentality: scrubs should get to play some, too, even if we lose . . .
DiNardo, the buffoon.
This is why I’m just going to roll with the punches.
I can remember when it was LOTS worse than this.

Say what you want about DiNardo, but he got us back to respectability. I honestly believe that if Cecil Collins wouldn't have pulled the crap he did, that team had a legit shot to win it all...
After the Cecil debacle, DiNardo lost the team. Some rumors even suggest players shaving pts. Even if that is just rumor, it was obvious some players were just going through the motions...
