I would like for Matt House to be fired, but I think the more time that passes the more likely it is that he will be retained. I don't see much benefit in keeping Matt House if he is going to eventually be let go.

Kelly is only going into year 3 of a 10 year, $100M contract. He's is at ZERO risk of being fired after next season.

I agree its highly unlikely he gets fired anytime soon but its not impossible. Jimbo just got bought out for $76 million. Another 8 or 9 win season and fans will be out for blood again. Thats just how CFB is, especially at a program like LSU. If Kelly fires House tomorrow, who will he have to blame next year if things go wrong. Kelly knows the game.

House has never been good enough to warrant a top 5 salary. He has had one good season as DC ever and it wasn’t at LSU.

Find someone worthy of that money.

Somehow he was extended in the offseason because he might be lost to a HC job. What a world.

He will be back. Let me repeat that, he will be back. Get over it and pray for the best.

Feels like he gets through signing day and then he finds an assistant job in the nfl coincidentally when that opens up.

I want House gone ASAP. If it’s a delayed exit that allows him to take an NFL position, that’s fine, but we will lose some recruits, imo. It comes down to weighing whether it’s worth having a positive rep among the coaching community in return to losing a handful of recruits.

I don’t know the answer to that.

However, when you factor in his salary and expectations, House needs to go.

Here are two reasons that Kelly may keep him. This doesn’t sway my opinion at all, but I am trying to put up a counterpoint.

1. Replacing Cooks and Steeples should be enough.
2. Greg Brooks being diagnosed with brain cancer and Lindsay having a serious health scare that sidelined him are extremely unfortunate events that are unforeseen. With a healthy DL coach and better secondary coaches, House can focus on LBs and broader strategy.

My view is if you are the highest paid DC in the country, even with these unforeseen issues, you need to field something better than the 100th best defense.

With how predictable offenses have been against our d and not changing schemes he deserved to be fired

I bet he’s retained and a new dl and db coach’s brought in .

If not ,it’s a complete rebuild. Can’t be any worse…

I feel like because he knows the game he fires him this off-season. If he doesn’t, bad results next season will be on him for not firing House. Bonus, he can blame a new scheme from a new coordinator.
