Kirby had a very easy schedule his first few years as they played very bad teams in the SEC. The easy schedule help his recruiting.

A sustainable championship program not a 1 year run.

Would all of you rantards be willing to give Bryan Kelly that much time to build a program? I think the answer is a resounding NO. Kelly will be on a much shorter leash than Kirby was

With his contract, BK is getting a minimum of 5 years whether tRant likes it or not.

That was Kirby’s first program build. This is Kelly’s fourth.

Ed O is a complete incompetent who lucked into a perfect storm of Joe, Joe, Jamar, Justin, Clyde, etc.

Kirby played for a national title in year 2 and they lost on a insane Tua bomb on 2nd and 26

You have to think also that Kelly was/is coming into LSU...Saban, Miles, Coach O all have titles.

Before Kirby Richt had several good 10-2 type seasons but he was not sniffing a title. The last one was `1980 with Herschel and Dooley.

Kirby had many #1 and #2 recruiting classes and walked the walk on the field. He was due for a ship with his defensive knowledge and top clases.

Pretty much this. Georgia has been stockpiling elite talent for a while with top 2 classes year after year.

Kelly isn't recruiting at that level at LSU.

That’s not luck bro, that’s called recruiting, the old fashion way too. Ed O is one of the greatest recruiters and his 2019 team proves that, he’s just a terrible head coach and can’t run a team efficiently.

A. Georgia wasn't paying Kirby Eleventy Kajillion dollars. They are NOW, but not when he was first hired.

B. Before Kirby, Georgia's last Natty was 40 years ago. LSU's last Natty was 4 years ago.

And in the process set the program back 20 years. Let's see if we can avoid that.

correct. The stars aligned with Burrow and Brady for one glorious year.

But O didn't build a sustainable program. He lucked into a generational QB - not many schools were lining up to get Burrow in spring of 2018.

But look, I do give O credit for getting Burrow and bringing in Brady.

But in hindsight, it looks like sheer luck rather than a masterstroke of program-building. And of course we saw the rapid destruction of the program after 2019.

Quite unexpectedly. When Saban's first year the team was 2nd in the west and tied for first the next season. Are you saying two nonwinning seasons were not going back to Dinardo days? Or that Kelly came in to a roster as good as any from 2000-2020?
