It looks the transfer portal and new transfer rules could allow LSU to have a farm system

We can basically let in-state schools like ULL, ULM, Tulane, La Tech, test out mediocre recruits and if they develop into something more, LSU can steal them. It’s a free farm system for us. Me likes this

What's to stop other teams from signing them if they are good enough to play for LSU?

Yep do a good job developing and they hit the portal. NCAA is destroying sports faster than I could have ever imagined. NIL is one thing, the portal with immediate eligibility is a joke.

LSU can also become a farm system. They must figure out NIL. At least now it seems they have competent leadership at AD and football in general so I think they will. If Alleva were still here LSU would have become nothing more than a feeder school for Bama.

So how does this prevent them from signing with teams anywhere in the country?

Are you not paying attention to the portal kids we've got so far? Pretty much all from Louisiana and some have said they're coming for the opportunity to play at LSU that they didn't have out of high school.

Accidental downvote while aiming at upvote. 100% the portal is the most broken thing in cfb

Meh there will be just as many or more kids from a big school looking for a smaller one for playing time
It will keep g5 schools from keeping the hidden gem type guys all 3 years. Except for those that have more loyalty or love for the school

In honesty, I've not spent hours reading the portal posts. So have any players from other Louisiana schools not signed with out of state schools? All have signed with LSU?
Another question: how many of the players coming from other Louisiana schools had original offers from LSU which they declined?

The portal is making coaching college football an even tougher job. Roster management is a nightmare now

They should sit out a year after transfer

Honest question - not trying to flame - what is making people so confident that these guys from ULL are going to be able to play in the SEC at a high level? What would be our reaction if Miss St or Ole Miss signed them?
