The Cajuns think their irrelevancy is do to their name. But “directional” names haven’t stopped the University of Southern California in the PAC-12 or Northwestern in the Big 10. Nor has it held down UCF. City names haven’t hurt Auburn, UCLA, Miami, Boston College, Louisville, Stanford, Pittsburgh, Houston, and Clemson.
A rose is a rose, and bullshite is bullshite no mater the name. UCF is a rose, and UL is bullshite. I love the smell of a rose, but cannot accept shite! ULL needs to take pride in what it is, and stop throwing BS everywhere.
UCF knew and accepted its worth before they started their football program, and worked their way up through all 4 divisions. They had no delusions of grandeur, or butt hurt towards FSU, U of F, or Miami. But they need to play tougher teams even if they must accept 2-1 or even unreciprocated road trips if they expect to get to the big dance.

All of those you listed are in P5 leagues or are in major cities. Louisiana is a small state and why is it such a big deal for UL Lafayette to try to get a little national attention while being at the g5 level? It is no theat in any way what so ever to LSU. The schools who should have a big problem with it are La tech ULM northwestern mcneese etc. it’s absurd that La has that many four year universities to begin with.

UCF football is a very good program, not quite a contender but trying to push in.
If the playoff were eight teams they'd have been in this year and arguably last year too.

You kinda answered your own question, why should any g5 level program be entitled to THE University of (insert state name here)?
Actually it would just be funny, in a pathetic way, for ULL to 1) think they deserve national attention do to a name change, 2) expect those who know them to buy into the grand delusion, and 3) to expect to bypass other Louisiana schools by names and not deeds. Except they are little whiny and demanding bitches. Like gnats their annoyance is all out of proportion to their weight class. They deserve RAID not renown.

LSU wasn’t LSU until Huey P and ULL wasn’t ULL until Gov. K. Babeling Blankstare. Politics is why we have the Southern University system, the U of L system, and the LSU system. It’s why we have the absurd number of 4 year universities.
You are correct, Louisiana is a small state, and talent cannot be diluted and expect to win national championships. In 100 years Tulane competed with LSU for New Orleans players, and only LSU in 1958 brought home the Naty. In the past 20ish years,Tulane is no longer diluting the talent and LSU has won 2 Naties and played for another. 1 in a hundred, or 1 in ten, we are only one politician away from the bad old days. Don’t kid yourself.

Actually they do. ULL enrollment for the fall 2017 semester was 19,291 students, and SLU enrollment for fall 2017 was 14,308 students. LSU fall 2017 enrollment was 45,202 students. LSU is larger than both the #2 and #3 universities combined 45,202 to 33,599. La-Tech is rated as a higher graded University by Niche. ULL SAT range per Niche is 940-1180, LSU 1010-1250, Tech 980-1200, ULM 950-1360, UNO 950-1230, and Nicholls 945-1134. So ranked #3 and #6.
So, Louisiana State University and the University of Louisiana sound about equal. But academically Lafayette is number 3 and not much different from 4, 5, and 6, in enrollment they are less than 43% of LSU, and athletically they are completing for number 4 or 5.
Lafayette doesn’t deserve the name nor national attention. Frankly their pursuit of the Louisiana name is penis envy of LSU and arrogant delusion to the rest of the state.
They deserve derision and a good spanking.

Where did you pull this figure from? According to LSU.edu, the total enrollment for fall 2018 was 30,987 that’s including undergrad and grad students. You got the UL Lafayette figure correct though. Did you use the whole LSU system? You sure did do a lot of work just to argue your point. UL bothers you that much? People tend to forget this is Louisiana we’re talking about. They act like a school using the UL name really makes the state look bad. This state has numerous ways to look bad and this shouldn’t be as big of a deal as it is to some folks. This isn’t Colorado, North Carolina or Washington. This is backwater 50th best place to live Louisiana. Relax.

Trying to find actual facts to support my arguments quickly. Made a mistake on LSU. But before you get all high and mighty, so did you. I was trying to compare fall 2017 not 2018 enrollment so the actual number is 30,863.

For God’s sake Nick Saban is god and has spoken. Now let’s take a look at this. Nick recruits Louisiana almost like LSU recruits Texas. Pulling LSU’s claws reduces his competition. If O was competing with Jimbo over a Houston recruit, I would hope he’d tell the boy that if he didn’t pick LSU he should sign with the UT Longhorns and not the Aggies! Bear Bryant would do that all the time, “son if you want to stay in your home state of Tennessee, go to Vandy, you’ll start right away and get a better education!”
