I certainly respect anyone who has an intelligent reasons (s) to let him go (saying "I can coach better" is NOT one of them), but I am for keeping him because
1) Image matters; he is a well spoken and apparently honest and hard working man who wants to do things the right way- we have had WAY to little of this in Basketball at LSU
2) Our goals should be to make the NCAA at least 50% of the time and Trent can I believe get us this going forward. Our basketball tradition (discussed here a ton) is IMO where UGA is in football- when we had some of best players ever (Shaq, Jackson etc., UGA's Walker etc) we were in lime light but we are not a year in and out power.
3) IMO and from what I have heard (I realize we all have "our sources") Brady left a total mess of academics and ethics that hurt Trent's ability to recruit big time
4) One more year seems "fair." And I have yet to see the great fit of who we can hire this year.
5) We cannot blame Trent for most of the poor attendance other than maybe 5-6 years in our history our attendance has never been much better.

Why should mediocrity be the goal? We are not a year in and year out power because we don't insist on being one. Florida wasn't one either until they hired Donovan and insisted on being one. We can be as good as we want to be and insist on being. If not, then there's no point even trying. Why waste resources on a doomed program, if we can't become as good as we want to be?

One of the flawed arguments that gets trotted out to support every underachieving coach. If the current situation is unacceptable, then it must be changed. There doesn't have to be a guarantee that the next coach will be better, there only has to be a chance that he will be. Keeping a bad coach = 100% chance of having a bad coach. Firing a bad coach = less than 100% chance of having a bad coach. This is true regardless of who the available candidates are.

Not true. Attendance was way better back in the 80s and 90s. For about 15+ years, there were really good crowds for basketball games.

People said the samething about this season, but we did improve
Not by much. And with as much room as there was, more improvement should have occurred. Brady hung on for 10+ years by taking us to rock bottom and claiming "improvement" for going from 2 wins to 4 wins in the SEC. Improvement is irrelevant unless and until it leads to acceptable levels of performance.

Unfortunately, TJ is now where Brady was in his final year with me.... I can see giving him one more year to make the NCAA,and I can see firing him now. In my gut,I think we'll wind up canning him, even if next year is a success. There's not much buzz about the program and I don't think the fans like him. He hasn't shown he can recruit consistently, which will be the death nail eventually. I think he's back next year... but if he doesn't make the NCAA, he should be DONE.

Seriously what has he done to deserve another year. I am not sure what at this time we have to look forward to next year. He has signed one player that's it. Three straight losing sec seasons, we have no shot against the leagues best next year either, ole miss and auburn beat us bad, 8th seed in the tourney NIT bubble team at best, just look at the second half scores of his tenure here after he COACHES at halftime, we have been destroyed in most second halves, and the timeouts what a joke that is. Someone posted the LSU DUKE game on here tonight watch that and tell me honestly if you ever think we will reach that level with TJ, no way. He is a very nice guy this is true, but he is the wrong guy for LSU. We are sitting home again in March and with the exception of a day or two the best we could do was being mentioned as a bubble team for the Dance. Then Ole Miss blows us out. It's way past time to move on.

If we were to can him, we need to open the bank and stop screwing around. Similar to when we hired Saban, though he was largely a question mark to some extent at the time. I just don't think Alleva will do it this year. TJ is his guy and I think he gets one more year.

Is there anyone on the Rant that wants to keep Trent as coach?
nah brah, he's done...no more faith in his abilities when we crash like that 3 years in a row.
it looked like we finally turned the corner and then he lost control of the team again. I still think we're really talented besides White, Bass and of course the walk on Del Peirresomething

the one good thing we have is experience coming back and that could be the final piece to the puzzle for whoever is the coach next year.
