I congratulate you on your ability to evaluate stats in a vacuum.
He threw alot of tds, and alot of ints. What is game manager about that?

this was my entire point of this thread, that maybe somehow the new staff could instill some new confidence in Harris but people lose their minds if you are critical of Etling right now

Even now, people have completely failed to understand that it is possible to frick up a QB in the head.

People simply see, "hey, he can't hit his arse with both hands" and are unaware that yes, this CAN be caused by a QB having shaken confidence rather than a literal inability to throw the ball.

Is it possible BH is actually pretty awful? Well of course it's possible.

But how anyone can say that with certainty given our track record with QBs is beyond me.

You're bringing up racism in a sport that is at a minimum 70% black. Just shut up already. You're embarrassing yourself.

I'm quoting him word for word.

Time to roll with Etling and not look back. We've been needing a Matt Mauck/Matt Flynn/ Zach Mettenberger type of quarterback for a long time now.

What does that mean? Why those 3 QBs?

Don't play dumb.

There isn't much else to evaluate for him though. I mean the Peach Bowl was excellent I guess.
Well, a decent place to start might be that NFL teams CLEARLY felt Flynn was more worth their time.

You're not going to get me to knock Mauck. He's one of my favorite LSU players.

But, that doesn't require me to be retarded about it.

Ok. Harris did not improve at all from last year to this year. Sorry but that matters.... Too be honest I am not sure who starts, but IMO they have a better chance at winning with Etling.

Come on, by that metric Flynn was better than Jamarcus.

What is so ridiculous about suggesting that Mauck was a balance between Flynn and Mett? Clearly Flynn and Mett are worlds apart. Mauck settles nicely between them.

I don't think he's as bad as some believe. And you're right. Given our history of fking up QB progression, we may never know nor be able to tap into his skill set and make him a better QB.
My hope is that the coaching shakeup will give BH a fresh outlook and possibly allow him to regain his confidence and perform like he's capable of.

There's only one other full season QB worth mentioning and that would be JR.

Maybe he didn't go that far back?

And, maybe he means we don't need anyone spectacular, just efficient. Having another JR would be nice, but, we don't really NEED another JR.

There are many ways to take it if you aren't in 24/7 "offended" mode.

Just admit it was a lazy comparison because they're white. That's all. The two closes QBs to Etling thus far have been Flynn and Jefferson. Mett really doesn't belong in the conversation whatsoever.

Well, I mean, other than that literally no one thought that contemporaneously, nothing I suppose.

I won't admit anything to you. You continue to push for it to be a racially based comment, and you're just mad it's not.

Yeah.

He must've been pissed as frick when the debate was between AJ and BH.

I mean, couldn't play the "oh, look, racism" meme.

He said Mauck, so...

Jefferson in 2009 is 100% worth mentioning too.

Mett was excellent in 2013. He has nothing in common with Flynn/Mauck and nothing in common with Etling.

I'm not offended. It was a lazy arse comparison at best.

I said that in my original post.

That was how I ended the post after explaining why it was a dumb grouping.

And etling hasnt improved from 2013 and 2014........ Everyone keeps talking about Harris not improving after a whole season, well, etling also had 13 starts under his belt, and this were his stats

238/429 for 55%

191 yards per game

16tds 12 ints

110 rating against a big ten purdue schedule

Brandon Harris 2015 season

149/277 for 53%

196 yards per game

13 tds and 6ints

130 rating against the SEC

THEY ARE DAMN NEAR IDENTICAL QBS before this season, with a slight edge to Harris. Now, lets look at this season

Harris

13/25 52% 5.56 YPA 1td 2ints 95 rating

Etling

40/71 56% 4.37 YPA 56% 3tds 1 int 118 rating

they are damn near identical again, with a slight edge to Etling

Lnch and others saying they are light years apart is hilarious

There's a difference between race affecting something and racISM being involved.

I mean, if it was "racism" every time race entered into sports, then every single instance of

Coach on the field
Great Route Runner
Possession receiver

and the converse

referring to POSSESSION black WRs as "deep threats"
referring to all black QBs as "dual threat"

etc etc.

People bring assumptions quite often. That isn't "racism". It may not be smart, but it isn't racism.

The talent Harris had to work with is far far better than what Etling had at Purdue.... FACT.
