last year we did have a guard(not a tackle) run a legit 4.78 at his pro day

Overall team speed, the only teams we ever had to worry about is Urban Meyer coached UF teams. Other then that I think we have almost always had the edge. Was worried about Oregon at first, but those concerns quickly faded.

Who'd they have that was faster than us? Harvin, Rainey, and Demps were all fast but we had Trindon, PP7, and Byrd.
If you are asking this question then I doubt you ever watched the game. Its not like if you have 3 fast guys that cancels out their 3 faster guys...
Their corners, Joe Haden and Janoris Jenkins are the fastest corner tandem I have ever seen. Brandon Spikes at LB was all over the feild.... And on offense, they were running all around us

Team speed is more about quickness and lateral mobility in your big guys than it is about straight line speed in your small guys.
Florida's Dunlap and Cunningham were very quick and mobile DEs. These guys could set the edges to force you inside, or chase you down if you bounce it outside. They held LSU to 80 yards rushing and sacked the QB twice in 2008.
That's where the "speed" comes from that coaches complain about. It isn't about the Percy Harvin's of the world, its about the Carlos Dunlaps.

Team speed, or better yet, the ever hyped term "SEC Speed" isn't about the skill positions, and never has been.
Just like when UF beat tOSU in the BCSNCG, their DL were running down tOSU's Heisman winning QB like he was in quicksand. Fast forward to 2011 and we did the same to Oregon with their fast guys.
Our big fast guys will beat their small fast guys everytime. It's all about the speed of the linemen and LBs that separates the elite teams from teams with fast skill players. All teams have "fast" WRs and CBs.

I remember when Bo Pelini was DC here he said something about not being sure how our players compared with other teams in the 40 but that team speed wasn't about 40 times but how quick your players got to where they were supposed to be.
