With one of the Matts on this team, we're a NC contender.

GOOD QUESTION...I would like to see if this is a possibility though.....

With Lee that played in the second half of the AUburn game in 08, yes. If he can consistenly play like that we will be dangerous and a serious contender. Its just can he. WIth JJ I dont think so, the best we will ever do with JJ is maybe the sugar bowl.

Too early to tell, we knew coming in this could easily be either a 10-2 or 7-5 team.
The defense has looked stellar, but hasn't been tested. And the offense, so far, has looked just as anemic as last year's but seems to have more potential if we can just get average, not great, but average play from the quarterback position.

With a good QB which we don't presently have we are a top 10 team. There is always a chance and I hope we do beat BAMA but I think they will beat the shite out of us in our present form!!

fail... we definitely have a shot at beating bama... we could have beaten them last year with a team that wasnt as good.

You make a comment about JJ yet the OP says if there is production from the qb position. I don't see your point

This...I really don't care if Les Miles Jr.is quarterbacking!
I said from the position, not a person

we almost beat them last year with a less talented team that we have right now..and i dont think 2010 Alabama Team is better than 2009

quote:Including the currently non-functional GC playbook, I hope. But more seriously, I believe LSU does have a shot at Alabama. What I think we'd better get real serious about is developing JL as our go-to QB in the next handful of games before Bama, and give JJ a well-deserved rest so he can regain his lost confidence and also be a factor in what can potentially become the newly resurgent LSU offense. Grow more every week, Tigers!

No - and we need to be honest about that.
But I think we can be a contender, if we can improve our QB leadership and execution.
Our offense will have tons of problems against a great SEC defense, which we have not yet seen.
We must get faster and more confident with execution offensively, and I think that means MUCH better QB play.
I think smart use of both JJ and JL is our only hope to scoring 20 or more against the big boys and not have their D in our backfield the whole game.
We must get better offensively in order to burn enough clock to give our D the rest it needs to slow down the great SEC offenses.
Last night's offensive performance will not beat any tough SEC team, because we won't score much, we'll have more turnovers, and our D will be on the field too long and will get over-powered in the second half.
I vote for the 2-QB shuffle starting next week. I think we might become great if we do that effectively.
