The reason LSU offense was stagnant last year for the most part is JJ was way too tentative.

The reason they were stagnant is because they couldn't do what they are trying to improve on now. Running the football.

Here's what new Florida QB Brantley had to say about the position. An option that wasn't available to the LSU QBs as of 2008.

quote:

Brantley, a redshirt junior, is thankful now that he wasn’t rushed into being a starter and had the luxury of soaking everything in as Tebow’s backup.

There’s no doubt in his mind that he’s much more equipped to step in and lead this team now because of that experience.

“You learn so much by sitting back and watching and learning the game,” Brantley said. “As a freshman, I didn’t know what was going on. The game was way too fast for me. Now that I’ve been around and gone through the springs and participated with the first team, it doesn’t seem nearly as fast.

“I know I’m ready to go in and play right now. I wouldn’t have been as a freshman.”

Well that is why LSU did not recruit him... We expect all of our freshman to be championship ready coming out of highschool. Everyone around here knows if a QB has trouble as an underclassman, he is a bust forever.

Im just curious.. can you name by example games and instances and specific areas of his game that improved?
I like broad general statements ok sometimes, but for this topic Im not buying it.

Ill hang up and listen.

Lets face it LSU never will have that All American QB. It's year after year after year we are hoping that QB doesn't suck

JJ never was and never will be "All American". He's not even "All SEC" material imo. He's an average to good QB, he will make some plays and if we can manage a running game and have an attacking defense we will win 9 or 10 games. If we don't, it's back to 8-4 or 7-5.

LSU, other than RS, hasn't recruited and won a highly touted, 5 star QB in forever. Our goal at LSU is to have a QB that "doesn't suck". Not very high standards IMO.

Do you agree he deserves at least a grade of C taking in all considerations? Don't make me list them. If so, he like others, deserves the opportunity to improve without the constant negative barrage. When his opportunity arrives to show the progress then you can put him to the flame. He has a lot going his way so quit living in the past and wait for the future. He's our un questioned starter. Fair?

If he would have been putting up great numbers this spring, you would have said something like ""I'll wait and see if he does all that come the regular season"

so why don't you do that and stfu

Shouldn't we wait until we play the actual Spring game before we start complaining about JJ's stats in it?

You just can't help yourself. This is the best shape at QB we've been in since JR jr year. You have to be pleased with our prospects at the position. If your holding the spring as measure then lets pretend he goes 14-15 with 3 TDS in the game. Will you give him your blessing as fast as your scrutiny?

At least you admit that no matter what he does you'll find a way to put a negative spin on it

Wonder if you will have the same energy to say your wrong when he leads the tigers to NC. Dont let it be anything less or JJ will fail? Will you admit he is a C with a chance to go to C+ or B-. Type it....you can do it. Turn away from the dark side.

The thrown balls were not necessarily incomplete. The wind took away some completions as were the case.

You wouldnt have shite to post if JJ happend to be white or JL and CG happened to be black.
Doc, in all seriousness your constant race baiting makes you absolutley one of the worst fricking posters on this board.

ATTENTION ALL POSTERS: TIGRLEE is putting his best foot forward! A C+ will get a reluctant thumbs up if we get the NC. JJ can now relax and focus on FB.

simple question......... If JJ plays all in all, the same as last year, what would you go on record today and say our record will be?
I say somewhere very close to last year.
8-4 luckily 9-3.
