But why? I’m not wishing them failure in life. Only on the football field.
Let me ask you, when you pull for a player on the opposing team to miss a field goal, or throw an interception, aren’t you doing the same thing? You’re wishing for another human being to fail. Why are you ok for doing that?
I do hope they miss if it means my team wins. But that is different than failing at football. You can still be a successful player and still not make all the plays. I want them to reach their potential - whatever that is.

Maybe it doesn’t matter at all if we wish them the best or not. It won’t make them work harder and has less effect than you being in TS yelling on third down. That’s where pulling for your team affects the outcome. But wishing well/bad on a message board doesn’t do anything.
Except this:
I can tell you that wishing them well is the opposite of the bullshite we saw with the Recruting Board a La Landon Collins and Cam.
We saw bullshite behavior from “LSU posters” (hint, some of them were from RBR and Texags) that spoke Ill of their:
-Family
-Girlfriends
-Academics
-Abilities
-Future Job possibilities in La.
That was all a bad look whether it was alters or not.
So to answer your question, if you are over 24 years old and have been In the working world where you must turn the cheek, just wish the man the best. It’s good practice.

The baseball fans would let Walker Howard do a lap around the stadium and give him high fives

I hope both have stellar careers. And if LSU ever faces them on the field, I hope we beat them as talented individuals; not as scrubs. Where's the honor in that?

I hope Walker Howard transfers to Auburn and throws 4 pick-6's in the 2nd half vs LSU, in Tiger Stadium at that.
