Soooo we're talking about Hookfin, who made 2nd team All SEC just like ole Peterson... And Prude, who was the closest thing we had to a shut down corner that year and also plays in the NFL? And we're talking about them being the worst of all time? WOW... Some people are just idiots...

I'm not one of the biggest Saban rah rah guys on here, and have no doubt the dude is as big an a-hole as he often comes across, but I don't believe this for one second.

Considering how it would affect recruiting...I'd tend to agree.

I can believe it.
Ive heard that the team was ready to quit on saban if he had stayed multiple times in the past. Also why would he care about recruiting at the time. He was going to the NFL. If somehow miles had found out about it 1. hed be too classy to use it against bama 2. its too far in the past to really use.

The truth of the matter is Saban/ Pellini sent Prude on the field at the last second. They were totally responsibe for what happened and Saban through Prude under the bus.I was there and saw it happening before it happened. Prude never had a chance on the play. He was going on to the field when the ball was snapped. The receiver went right behind him.

When JR fumbled on the 1 yard line against florda his first season, I saw LM pat him on the butt and tell him better luck next time, kinda made me I was expecting a butt chewing...it never came.

perhaps he didn't chew him out because the fumble was the center's fault...

People keep bringing up this game, but really...did you feel worse after Iowa beat us or after we lost to Alabama last year?

I felt worse when LSU got blown out at Georgia in 2004 under nick saban.

I'm sure Saban 100% thought that Iowa was going to call timeout after the first play, either that or spike it. He should've called timeout once he saw the D wasn't going to ready for the play.

Prude has been playing in the NFL for years and is a starter with the Ravens.

This is bullshite. If Saban had said that, every coach in the country would use it against him to recruit. I don't believe that Miles, or any coach for that matter, is a complete gentleman when recruiting. With kids these days having so many options as to where they can play, coaches have got to use any advantage at their disposal to sway these kids. Recruiting is by no means a gentleman's game.
