Is it possible that winning tonight ends up hurting us?

Let’s say we lose the next 2 and go 1-2 in the tourney. Is that better than 0-1? Obviously it is because we advanced but it gives us even more losses and a potentially losing SEC record. It also would make our record vs top teams worse. I’m not sure how the RPI works in that situation. I think we’re in no matter what but just a hypothetical.

If LSU loses to Florida no one is going to hold that against them.

Since the win was over Moo State and their suddenly obnoxious fan base, no.

Nah, Moo state has about the most friendly fanbase in the SEC... Honestly, a lot more friendly than our fanbase is.

This is a good question, bud, and I've wondered that myself because as you alluded to, 15 & 15 technically is better than 16 & 17; but apparently the committee awards you more for winning 1 in the sec tourn. Granted, I'm like you, if I have to get eliminated, I'd much rather it be at 2 & 2 than 1 & 2. I'd love to see us run to 3 & 0 through Thursday, and then if we lose on Saturday (which is reverted to single elim.), we leave at 3 & 1.

That’s what I was thinking, but I don’t understand the RPI so I wasn’t sure.

God, it is a good thing that breathing is an involuntary function because I think many of you on here would kill over and die because you couldn’t form the thought do so.

LSU’s record is still 15-15 in SEC conference play. The conference season ended Saturday. LSU’s record doesn’t change. They are now in the SEC tournament and it is a whole new record. And YES, it is by far and away better that they won tonight, even if that means losing the next 2. Do you really think it would have been better for them to go 0-1 and be knocked out of the tournament, especially after coming off a series loss to end the season?

Well hell no it wouldn't have been better to go 0 & 1, but 1 & 2 would still leave us a bit discouraged. We turned a corner tonight and got a little hot. Let's get even hotter and geaux win another ballgame.

If you get to 16 conference wins, you make the tourney. I’m pretty sure that the committee has never left out an SEC team that has won 16 conf games.

a loss last night would have put us in the 45-48 range of the RPI which would seriously hurt our post season chances. Losing to Florida may drop us 1 spot if any at all. If we lose to South Carolina after losing to Florida that may send us further down the bubble but I like our chances now!

Do they count SECT wins in this number?

IF we lost last night I dont see much a way we get into the tournament. We need wins to get in.

They are in, regardless of what else happens. There’s nothing to worry about.
