re: Is it possible that Kelly genuinely doesn’t know how to fix the offense?

If he knew how, why wouldn't he fix it immediately. His entire legacy at LSU and maybe college football depends on him fixing the problems whenever, wherever they exist. He has literally done nothing for a month to improve this team.

Half of what you mention is the responsibility of the position coaches. Sloan can’t teach every position group how to execute. He handles the game plan and QBs.
Which is why I said the entire offensive scheme and system is broken. Offensive line and WR issues is on the position Coaches but its also on the Coordinator to fix in meetings when you break down the film and they're not doing their job based on the play call and scheme.
But again I agree that the position Coaches are to blame which is why I said the ENTIRE system. Its also why I said that 3 offensive coaches will be replaced at the end of the season on another post. However, Joe's main problem is his play calling is not very good and his tendencies based on formation, wr spacing has made the play calling very predictable. The attention to detail on Route spacing and depth is on Cortez but the route concepts on the play call is on Sloan and some of the route concepts are completely garbage.
If you bring a man in motion and want him to be the clear (go route) then he needs to become set so he can gather and turn up field and not be delayed leaving the dig and the seam in the same spot which brings additional defenders into a spot. Thats a concept issue not a teaching issue on our WRs. We ran that play 4 times and every time the slot motion could not actually do what it was supposed to do.
Again Sloan is very good in the film room which is part of why he got the job in the first place. But his play calling and route concepts on passing plays has been terrible. The offensive line issues I will agree is on Brad Davis however, when you have offensive lineman confused that is on Sloan and Kelly to break down on film and work with Davis to get that fixed. 5 games in and we still cannot handle a stunt and still have guys confused and don't know where to place their eyes on run plays or pass plays.
