Is Canada ushering in the next offensive innovation?

Forward pass, triple option, west coast offense, spread, tempo. All innovations that went viral and changed the game. Canada has found yet another angle.
Confuse the eyes and mind. The constant motions and shifts causes mental delays that create the space needed to rip off gains. The spread was the great equalizer from a talent standpoint because it created space. You didn't have to outmuscle people. Canada's scheme takes it one step further. Create the mental hesitation and create space.

There will be a supreme difference from Pitt opponents and BYU, to Bama Auburn and Florida. Time will tell.

It's all based in the Wing-T. So no, not reinventing the wheel really.
But nobody has put it together with such success at the college level, so yes.

Pitt offense raped the same clemson team that beat bama for the national title last year with half the talent lsu has on offense.

One thing about his offense, it makes DBs and LBs have to consider a lot before the ball is snapped. You get defensive players thinking instead of reacting it slows down the defense and give the offense an advantage.

His offense beat the best team in college football last year

Pre snap shifts and movement were a staple of Mike Martz' offense, so while unconventional it's not a new concept. What is impressive to me is that after a few hiccups early this offense was able to line up with tempo and shift formations almost flawlessly. Misalignments seemed to be constant under the old regime and in Matt Canada's debut we're already seeing the exact opposite!

Martz may have shifted but I don't recall the one side of the line shifting entirely with the other side. Innovation is is not invention. You just build on an idea. Pieces are recognizable but I've never seen anyone put it together like this.
